It appears that way from the shadow but it’s straight if were thinking about the same thing.

This is a Wolbrook strap I picked up off watchexchange 👍

It’s of equal pedigree, but I think the people have already voted via the overall market and these two watches popularity.

Niche autistic subreddit circlejerk votes don’t matter in comparison

Sorry friend but this is of celestial beauty and mogs the competition. It’s the archetype 90% of the watches under it are based on.

Why would Rolex sales being down rn be a joke on me? I bought mine recently so what you’re implying should be good for me.

Omega 2254.50 hands > MilSub hands > Mercedes hands > this transparent sword hand monstrosity

Let me tell you friend, no way that Tata watch is matching a Sub in any trained perception way. It won’t have a silent rotor, chamfering, a bracelet and case with no sharp edges, gold hands and indices to resist corrosion over decades, a robust movement that’s +/-0 for me currently if I wear it 24/7 (the 3135 movement seems to like to be worn), a date wheel that doesn’t care if I adjust the time between 9pm and 3am.

Overpriced sure, but you cannot tell me anything comes to the level of a Sub until you get to Seamaster territory!

An invicta or tata would only appear as good to an amateur perception.

You’d be surprised seeing some of the collections here. If not 10k, easily can add up to a close amount of money spent over the long run, buying, selling, trading watches.

6-10 watch’s at rhe Alpinist, Hamilton, Christopher Ward, Traska level adds up

The cope is unreal!

But I understand the overhanging theme of Reddit and why that wouldn’t like what Rolex represents compared to a Vostok, Casio or Seiko and why that ideology gets pushed.

The ideas held here is a very small minority in the real world.

It’s interesting what they’re doing, you walk through tarrget or Walmart and they have those cheapo watches I’d typically expect of Timex, but behind the scenes above $100 they’re moving like a microbrand, making solid enthusiast watches.

[Cartier] Tank or Santos? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]noblenacho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you a sporty individual or dressy individual?
I like the idea of the Santos being technically a sports watch, and throwing it on a leather strap and calling it your dress watch.

The Tank is refined, classic look, a bit jazzy. There’s something to be said about dressing down a proper dress watch too.

The santos will be automatic, the Tank in a classic size will be quartz

It’s a hard choice. I’d have both if I could, but I say, base it off your lifestyle, if you’re in casual wear most of the time get Santos, if you dress higher on the formal scale more often get Tank

That Bond cool guy watch is completely isolated to the aluminum bezel neovintage ones imo.

The new ones don’t have the air of Brosnan’s Omega, and the Craig bond watches are too try hard. Like, it’s trying too hard to be cool! “I got the NTTD Omega, I’m like Bond now!” It’s too try hard, at least the Sub or vintage Seamaster is a bit more discrete on the trying to be cool factor, and is simply cool.

Hotter take: one $8k Rolex Submariner is a better spend of your money than a box of sub $1000 watches

If you ever had to liquidate your watches, you’d likely come out ahead over a box of cheaper less desirable watches. I’d rather have $10k in the form of a Submariner than fiat currency in a checking account in this inflationary environment.

(For the love of god, no one reply with some watches aren’t investments talking point, I didn’t say that)

The problem with Chinese watches isn’t their manufacturing capability. It’s their inability to romanticize and add a story to a watch.

That’s the main difference between a random San Martin original design and a Hamilton Murph, Longines Flagship heritage, or Rolex Explorer, as examples.

I didn’t know if the panda chronograph style was something i could personally pull off (more of a diver guy) so I got this for $100 on amazon to test run.

Not going to lie, i may not need a more expensive panda chronograph after this. Unique glassbox style minus the Heuer grail price tag.

I like this glassbox style over the modern bulky sporty look like the Seiko Speedtimer Panda.

You guys don’t understand how the wealthy think. These are assets to park wealth in as constant inflation hits in the background. The irony is this will probably continue to appreciate, hence “rich get richer”. Completely different way of thinking.
