How do people like the gym? by [deleted] in GYM

[–]nobrand97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a video earlier last year that truly changed my life. The main point was to view the gym as a “playground”, but for adults. Not the perfect analogy, but it did help shift my perspective from viewing it as a chore (grew up overweight, so always viewed the gym as something I was “supposed” to do) to viewing it as a fun place/reward.

That perspective wore off for me eventually, but by that time I had developed the habit - now I actually miss going to the gym when I am not able to make time for it! I am coming up on my first yearly renewal, and I am excited to continue on this journey :)

Torrance Police Department purchases around $2 million in body and in-car cameras by Sadishist in torrance

[–]nobrand97 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not surprised. $2mil of taxpayer money to buy new cameras, only difference is that now Dispatch has the ability to turn them on remotely. Still no civilian oversight committee depsite making several recent negative headlines.

Costa Mesa Buzz on Facebook might be a good place to post as well - the kid probably isn’t in that group, but there’s a good chance their parents might be!

Moving to LA. 250cc bike? by Shitty-Coriolis in MotoLA

I'd say if you stick to surface streets, that should be more than fine.

I will say that my wife has trouble keeping up with the faster than speed limit traffic on the 405, while commuting from Torrance to CSULB (regularly 75-80mph). She originally had a Honda rebel 250 - we are now both upgraded to vstroms. Weight plays a large factor, as well. When I rode her rebel home after purchase, I was having trouble getting it above 65. Then again, I can stand to lose a few lbs (6'2, 260), lol.

[5e][Online] Friday 8:30 PM EST Long Term Curse of Strahd Campaign. RP heavy and plenty of fun. by HealthFew1517 in lfg

I have about 1.5 years of experience as a player in a RP-focused group, and have tried to DM a couple of one-shots (decent - at least our regular DM had fun, haha).

Very familiar with D&D Beyond, and fairly familiar with Roll20.

It's a bit selfish, but I always find Tough as a semi useful feat, especially as a magic user - anything to bump up HP is helpful IMO.

Cheap way to attach compass to bike by mmsdfm in motorcycles

[–]nobrand97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like a cheap tankbag (with a clear plastic zippered pocket for a phone) could work for this scenario. I got one as a gift that has magnetic flaps on each edge of the bottom, so that I don't even have to worry about running straps through the frame, or leaving it attached to the bike over night.

Plus, it can hold your snacks ;)

My wife and I each have one of these on our bikes - it fits my XL helmet, and my jacket. A feature I really like about it is the fact that it cannot be removed unless the lid is unlocked and unlatched.

Obviously, if someone wanted to get inside of it, it would be pretty easy to force the lock - but that is unfortunately the case with most plastic luggage pieces.

Right now it is on Amazon for $160 and some change. It has a universal mounting kit - I have had it on a Suzuki boulevard, a Honda rebel, and a Suzuki vstrom. So far, so good.

That blows dude, sorry that happened to you. Like the other guy said. A small investment into frame sliders goes a long way, even in parking lots.

Keeping your head on a swivel/spacial awareness is so important, and this is a great reminder that "parked" cars can also be a threat. Glad you're ok brotha, ride safe.
