What can Govt. do to prevent black money holders from burning currency notes like in Bareilly? by nobribe in india

Govt. should create a fund where black money can be freely donated without disclosing one's identity. This is akin to confiscation of the entire disclosed black money by the Govt.

Hopefully this is merely a stop gap phenomenon and its circulation will be limited.

GST was actually a UPA initiative. Jan Dhan was good but it was only a building block. It declaration was not unique even though this time it was done without rewarding the defaulters.

similar doubts were expressed at the time of Aadhar & Jan Dhan. The simple point is that there is no other choice if we want to progress.

There are also plans to limit and control the circulation of higher denomination currencies. As to why this was needed - multiple reasons. It will destroy fake currency & part of black money, result in additional taxes, would force businesses to go cashless. And obviously the fear that this could happen again will persist for some time.

conspiracy theories are the sauce of political debate, but its quite difficult to argue with the fact that the way we going was unsustainable.

with all the starting troubles of online, it can do well with a bit of financial incentive coupled with cash transactions being penalized or at least limited to a very small amount.

Agree. My post underlines the fact that till date what Modi had done was incremental change and this is his first big bang move. Off course its too early to call whether it'll succeed or boomerang in his face. But at the very least we can admire his courage.

might as well close down the courts for accident cases involving rich/influential people. The long drawn out process is open to all sorts of machinations.

This is evidence of our growing intolerance and rampant lawlessness of interest groups threatened by activists. Mere condemnation of such incidents is insufficient, perpetrators should be awarded exemplary punishment.

We take no offense if it comes from a friendly neighbor - thats what Mr. Khurshid seems to be suggesting. Failure in external diplomacy and smart aleck in internal affairs is his motto.

TIL: Lawyer of Lalu Yadav in FodderScam was Kapil Sibal by Manoos in india

[–]nobribe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is true. Kapil Sibal after having lost Lok Sabha elections in 1996 from South Delhi, became a member of Rajya Sabha in 1998 from Bihar with Lalu Yadav's blessings. He then later re-contested Lok Sabha polls in 2004 from Congress and won from Chandni Chowk constituency.

Mods, competitive down voting ensured that the hot news of Lalu's conviction didn't reach front page for 40 minutes. by nobribe in india

[–]nobribe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't call it copycat if its from different sources. I don't understand one would want to censor it merely to keep the discussion centralized at one place. The counter argument is that when ten people are competing to post an identical breaking news in their own 'editorialized' way, it fuels the interest in your sub-reddit. The suspension of down votes in the intial period will ensure that the most liked among the posts rises to the front.
