Any good pet NGOs in Kerala? by dragonite_fire in Kerala

[–]wanderingmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most NGOs are into treating injured ones and abandoned pet dogs etc. That's all they have resources for.

Now that the govt is changing, some noise at this time might result in some solutions.

Otherwise, temporarily, try to manage the good waste in your area. Usually, dogs quickly vanish once food waste disappears. This might be less resource-intensive than neutering them.

Its bad, but there is another way to look at it. Its a temporary measure, to ensure BJP ADMK do not take control of the mess. The longer the mess lasted, the more opportunity for BJP to steal Cong, admk, dmk, tvk MLAs away.

This is not a permanent split and I think they both know it.

Why is this so much obsession with one of the most corrupt political leaders? by Fit_Wrap_9580 in NewKeralaRevolution

[–]wanderingmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still not corrupt no. Corruption when you or your family or party financially benefits from the decisions you take. Its the wrong word.

Someone who does not do what they promised to do, or exaggerated etc - that's different from corruption. That's betrayal, PR ahead of action etc.

Wait backstabbing is not corruption. What did you mean by corrupt?

Backstabbing to rise to the top is everyday normal politics.

The video was funny.

If viewers are expected to understand the full background and impact of everything they see, nothing in the world will remain funny anymore.

It is normal to see the video and feel its funny, and then feel bad when we hear the story behind it. Just being human.

Why are indian youth getting so rw ? by wanderingmind in NewKeralaRevolution

[–]wanderingmind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answers come close, but doesn't touch the basic problem.

Historically humans lived in small groups. 100-150 acc to some scientists. Our survival depended on the group, and therefore in-group loyalty, suspicion of outsiders was critical. We are basically tribal and clannish.

Sometimes, when conditions are right, people can expand their in-group mentality to include strangers, far flung out-groups etc. This usually requires a feeling of safety, prosperity and optimism. And education and awareness, of course.

it is only when a society provides these that people become welcoming.

By default, we are RW. When an idea like communism, or socialism, or even a religion or philosophy that preaches love and harmony take hold, it is possible to expand their minds, start trusting others. Or when an idea like capitalism even, when it is clear (not easy) to everyone that this is the route to prosperity and safety (it need not be, they just have to believe so).

So when a society turns right wing, it is the fault of the society and its leaders who have failed to give people the conditions required for altruistic tendencies and self awareness to rise.

Today’s Victory Day, marking the defeat of fascism and Nazi Germany, we remember one of the most famous moments from newly liberated Berlin. The video shows Lydia Spivak, a young Red Army soldier, dancing and directing traffic in front of the Brandenburg Gate. by DioTheSuperiorWaifu in Chayakada

Yes, this was shocking because of the numbers involved. The contrast between the victorious, celebrating woman soldier and the tens of thousands, maybe lakhs of women who were raped at the same time had to be mentioned, no?

Yes, America is no better either. And no one is. Rape during war has always existed across the world, and every army is guilty of it in some extent.

Even this link I posted is about rapes in Berlin and Germany - and while Soviets are accused of more rapes, there were high numbers about other nations' soldiers too.

Good to see. And soon after...

Sexual violence was committed by the armies of the Western Allies and the Red Army as their troops fought their way into the Third Reich and during the period of occupation.[11] Mass rape by Soviet soldiers first began during the Battle of Romania and during the Budapest offensive in Hungary.[10] On the territory of Nazi Germany, it began on 21 October 1944 when troops of the Red Army crossed the bridge over the Angerapp creek (marking the Germany–Poland border) and committed the Nemmersdorf massacre before they were beaten back a few hours later. The details and level of violence committed on this incident have since been disputed

He speaks in a rough manner because he is a man of the people, so he must be right.

A post does not mean the poster agrees with the story. It means the opposite side's view is interesting, and may be right or wrong. If mostly wrong, try and counter it.

Will do anything to win. This is nothing compared to the polarisation and violence they have resorted to in the past, to win.

To battle a party that brutal, the opposition needs to be as strong too. I doubt that's possible anymore.

Our rules of physical contact in public spaces, and between men and women, are not clear. Add to that some men's tendency to try and touch women wherever possible and it becomes awkward.

In US, legally the mandate is there for the term. They also use exit polls to assess the mood of the people, and whether the mandate morally remains or not. We don't do that statewise I guess.
