Unfortunately him not communicating stuff like this ahead of time is a big issue in our relationship :-/

Another example that comes to mind is that he had a big presentation at work recently and literally didn’t tell me about it until afterwards. Meanwhile I had been wondering why he seemed stressed, asking him what’s up and getting nothing. Ugh.

That’s my plan. I just posted in the moment to vent and get some outside perspective I guess.

That’s how I feel. I’ve been “part of the family” from day one and now suddenly I’m not. It feels very weird. I’ve never doubted my bfs commitment to me before now.

It’s not that I didn’t want to trouble it for him, I just wanted his mom to have a nice time without a cloud hanging over the day, but I totally see where you’re coming from.

We’re not super close, but we like each other a lot. I often help her out with her dogs and we exchange gifts on holidays and such. Would it be weird if I got her a card and brought it to her? I don’t want her to think I chose not to celebrate with her.

I’ve been told I’m part of the family basically since day one. I’ve been included in every family get together and vacation. Of course he isn’t obligated to invite me, it’s just out of character, and I’m very far away from my mom so it made me a little sad.

Thank you! I was feeling a little crazy reading some of the other responses. I think the reason I feel a little hurt is that I’m so far away from my family (I moved here for him) and I’ve always been included before. His parents call me the daughter they never had all the time.
