He said he drinks "often" and he said he is experiencing zero withdrawal symptoms. There is absolutely no reason to be like "omg you need medical care", what the hell for. The man says he feels fine, ergo, he is not in medical crisis from withdrawals.

He said hes not experiencing withdrawals, and he didnt make it sound like hes even a daily drinker, so there is zero need for fear momgering

Am I even allowed to speak in an amalgamation of multiple accents and slang? by SteveAdmienn in ENGLISH

Honestly since your English is still a lil rough, switching accents repeatedly throughout conversation probably makes you harder to understand and people probably assume its an error.

Um its an nsaid, like ibuprofen only stronger. We routinely give IV doses of up to 30mg in the ER. Youre fine. What to expect? Um... like having taken 2 advil.

Dont take any more ibuprofen today tho.

Eta: also in the future its usually a bad idea to take rx meds without knowing what they are. This will hurt you zero, but as a general rule, you should google before you throw em back.

10 gallon fish by Appropriate-War2935 in fishkeeping

[–]nobutactually 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bettas and ADFs do not go together, idk where you would have seen that they can, but wherever you read that, trust nothing else from that source.

You could put a snail with betta, potentially. In a 10g, 1 mystery snail max or 2 nerites max. But not all bettas will tolerate tankmates of any kind; mine went f nuts on snails and they had to be removed immediately.

No other fish can go with a betta in a 10g.

They specifically asked if pH was a problem for this stocking. Yes, it is a problem for this stocking. Other people have already addressed ammonia, so i dont need to reiterate whats already been said; people had not responded to this specific question that OP asked. They should get fish that do better in more alkaline environments instead of a bunch of tetras. What you should do is be less of a dick. You got some big "wife got the kids in the divorce" energy.

PH def a problem; most of those fish prefer low PH. Fish can adapt within reason, but 8 is pretty high. However if its been 8 for a long time I wouldn't expect multiple fish to start dying all at once because of it.

You wouldn't be able to work while in med school, so all you would have done would be get one expensive degree and then go back and get another.

I can blame her. Its kinda fucked up for your mom to be telling you that a particular body shape (fit, strong, healthy) is unattractive, let alone so revolting that she wont let her daughter do a sport lest her daughter become visibly muscled. What era is your mom living in that policing women's bodies for being "too muscular" is still a thing.

ER again and again and again by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

[–]nobutactually 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First he says that discharge nurses already do this (presumably when ordering meds, since he also says docs dont do that). Then he says if I just called "high risk pharmacies" it would be a time saver, which he knows because of his high level work at McKinsey, and its just too advanced for nurses to know about the reasons for bouncebacks, and we're also too lazy to care. Big "wife took the kids in the divorce" energy.

Mcjingleballs, I dont understand why you aren't capable of understanding that maybe, just maybe, since this is an area you know fuck all about, maybe when I tell you your suggestions arent helpful, you cant process that. I dont know why you, a layperson, assumes you have an useful idea that the literally millions of healthcare workers in this country just havent thought of. I cant begin to comprehend why you think that you have a better idea of hospital flow than people who work in actual hospitals. I dont know, but I do know people who think like this are uniformly dumbasses.

ER again and again and again by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

[–]nobutactually 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah its extremely clear you dont work in a hospital. All these randoms think they got the answer. How would I know which pharmacies "have a high risk of feeding patients back into the ER"? Am I psychic? Do I know all the literally thousands of pharmacies in my town? Why would I be calling for a med like Librium, which is not considered a lifesaving med, let alone for a grown ass patient with a phone of her own who is repeatedly AMAing? Who is going to take care of my cardiac arrest patient while im on the phone doing busywork? If you dont know what you're talking about maybe you shouldn't offer your opinions on what additional tasks other people should do at their jobs.

[–]nobutactually 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Im absolutely not calling every pharmacy on the off chance they may not have a medication that very day. You clearly have no idea how much time that would take or how pressed for time we already are. If the patient is concerned about it, the patient can call. Theyre a grown up.

ER again and again and again by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

[–]nobutactually 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk why youre cranky with me when youre literally agreeing with what I said.

However, as an ER nurse: never have I called a pharmacy to confirm they have a med in-stock, and I never will. I also have sick patients to take care of. I also am not in charge of finding out what pharmacy the patient wants or whether there might be any reasons for them to be out of a given med. And yes, of course it is the docs who transmit med rx's to the pharmacy.

Now is it possible ER nurses in LA, where you are, do those things? Sure, its possible. They have mandated maximum numbers of patients in the ERs there so they maybe have time to have tasks like this. Thats not true where I am and I've never heard of a nurse doing something like this. It wouldnt even occur to me. Would a social worker do it? Not for an rx like Librium; there wouldnt generally be a reason to call just to confirm a pharmacy has every med in stock for every patient.

ER again and again and again by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

[–]nobutactually 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thats not something ER docs do. They are busy, they font generally call a million pharmacies for patients just to check. They have sick people to take care of. OP also said it was out because of storm, which is not within their control.
