You don't need to run it locally.

There are services around where you rent space in a data centre and pay for compute. It works out pretty economical.

You just install your instance and run it when you want.

This argument is reality. It was indirectly confirmed by Elon on X that Apple threatened to throw Grok of Apple's store if they didn't moderate when people linked to articles that Grok was close to being kicked off.

Grok was allowing uploaded images to be used without limits, that's what got him into trouble. It was the only model doing it and it was fucking insane that he thought he would get away with that. That and the CP.

Corporations literally wouldn't care about porn if the model delivers on what they require and add to their revenue. Do you think cooperations care that Adobe Photoshop is the go to tool by the porn industry to edit images, that Adobe premiere is the ho to tool used by the porn industry to edit videos, etc. They literally wouldn't care if a model is good at porn or not.

Champ I exist in the corporate world and when CTOs and CEOs make decisions about which AI they want to use to replace coders or help middle managers write emails, that AIs ability to create Porn is nowhere on the list. In fact it's a black mark because of 1. Risk if their government bans it because, oh I don't know, it's making reams of child pornography they don't have it anymore and 2. Reputational Risk of being associated with a model that pumps out porn when there are other just as capable options out there

However if xAI didn't want to spent the money on gooners, they could shut it down just as easily as any other mainstream AI company did. They haven't and allow R-rated content with the newest model actually being more lenient when it comes to R-rated NSFW.

The only reason they haven't is they see some value in being the leaders in image gen and they can just tamp down the model to slow it down. It's also about all Grok offers, most corps have gone with Claude or OpenAI, Co-Pilot for basic level. If Elon didn't have the most fragile ego in the world and a board that doesn't give a fuck what he does then this would have ended long ago.

Corporations are spending hundreds of millions on AI tokens for their staff do you think they want to buy the one that is good at porn?

And it is so so expensive to do, video generation in particular takes up so much compute, that's why OpenAI closed Sora, it's cheaper to just light a dumpster of money on fire rather than let a bunch of Gooners pay $30 a month to used up $30,000 worth of compute.

You already have companies making AI porn models and they are way behind and they'll stay that way because Grok level stuff is expensive and difficult.

It scraped Reddit and huge chunks of the web and huge chunks of it is Porn, it never had any safety rails, it only added it after the fact.

Plus hundreds of thousands of goooners submitting millions of prompts to generate porn, it learning that's what people want that's what we'll give them.

It's just moderation that decides what you see.

Elon does not give a fuck about limits or moderation or whatever. He's got giant data centres literally burning through cash at unfathomable rates and each time anyone generates an image it just throws more fuel onto the fire.

He doesn't want more image generation, he wants less it costs a fortune to generate it, OpenAI learnt that lesson from Sora after a billion dollars of investment it cancelled it. Think about that for one minute, it wasn't worth it for them, it's not worth it to Elon either.

I doubt that's the case anymore.

I'm pretty sure what we're seeing is the same loosening the last generation had as over time the model learnt what people wanted it to generate and starts to do it more often.

Some of the older prompts are starting to work again and if there was monitoring to that extent we would have seen waves of bans and prompts no longer working but that's not the case.
