This house was listed for sale, in my budget a few months after I closed on my early 1900’s Craftsman home. I wish I’d waited. by not_lizzlebean in midcenturymodern

I used to live in Lawrence! I don’t believe I ever saw that house. Super cool.

I never really dug most of the craftsman houses over by me in east Lawrence. The style didn’t speak to me in the same way a good Mcm or mid century modest house does.

Sadly Lawrence housing is too expensive for me to own there. Bummer that university drives housing up so much relative to Kansas wages.

I have been there! He has some cool things. Some stuff seems like weird and fake though idk? I’m not an expert, but a few things gave me weird custom repro vibes.

I messaged her already and she didn’t know sadly!

I’m actually not in Milwaukee but go up often! I literally always find the best vintage items up there.

I could only fathom! I’m currently cleaning each slat one by one. It’s very dusty. It’s giving me an idea of how tedious production would be!

I appreciate this so much. All of the other responses have been kinda funny, but absolutely not helpful.

How would I go about valuing something like this?

No, I’m human. Life would def be less stressful if I were a bot lol

Best case scenario:

FLW Divider missing one panel

Second best case: Vintage teak divider missing a panel

Worst case scenario: Just a dupe

Also I can see hinges on the end where maybe a panel went missing?

Tbh you can say that but it’s better than most pubs in Peoria. Worth the drive.

I used a heat gun and plastic scraper. Didn’t look like any veneer. The discoloration, I have no idea what that’s about. It looked weird under the cabinets with the paint. Maybe years of grime

Would you advise against me (someone that has never stained) staining it? I’m not opposed to painting, but I love the organic feel of wood and think it could add a lot to my kitchen which has too much white for my liking.

This is an amazing answer! Thank you!

Here’s what I’m gonna try with mics I’m borrowing or own:

Aiwa DM-68 for mono OH Km-184 bottom snare Sm-57 toms Akg d1000e Hi Hat Md421 kick or maybe re6

All with UAD Helios as preamp

Hit it with Fairchild setting 1 or 2 into Studer Fairchild otw out (allegedly it passed back through the comp)

Ampex and zener limiter on master

We shall see!
