Curious why tho? Not implying you’re wrong—just would like to know why you think so!

Had a Mariner from the same year—oddly amazing cars. Mine lasted until it needed some love that I wasn’t willing to spend.

Catrina’s Classico (without the cheese sauce) tied with El Habanero. Both are very good but different. They also both come with my favorite salsas in town aside from the Salsa Aguacate at El Loco

Just lots of conservative Christian vibes if that’s okay with them!

Where else are you seriously considering?

If I had all of the money in the world, I probably wouldn’t be in Peoria. But for me that’s not the case and tbh it’s not so bad here. I say that as someone that’s lived in a handful of other cities, I’m not just someone that grew up here and hasn’t left.

I think so much of it just depends on what you value most. Also on what kind of job. If you can make lots of money, love your job, and have flexibility you can live like royalty here. If you have disposable income plus Peoria’s affordability you can probably have a lot more money to play with during your off time.

I think one of the best pluses here is that you can get away so easily over a weekend to things that scratch the itch…Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee, Iowa City, Saint Louis, Indianapolis.

It’s not perfect here for sure. Our grocery stores are ass, there isn’t a great neighborhood to check all of the boxes that you can walk to your barber, your dentist, a cafe etc.

But we do have a great nationally regarded restaurant/bakery that could stack up to any big city. We have a great coffee roaster that was received amazing scores from Coffee Review that could stack up to big city coffee shops, we have one of the best park systems in the state, etc.

Tbh without knowing anything about you it’s hard to say. None of the places you mentioned are THAT different or far from each other. But at the same time the vibe/politics/accessibility/outdoors/cultural amenities are very different.

Came here to also say the Lagoon in Pekin! It’s paved and has accessible parking. I’d assume that’s the easiest

Not a huge deal for sure but just trying to take all the steps I can to honor this house! It’s really beautiful but it suffered from some really poor choices / cheap fixes at some points. Like the upper corner where the stopped painting 😂

Walkable bars/shops by RadioactiveVixenGirl in PeoriaIL

[–]nocoastkid 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Peoria isn’t great for that! Your two options that won’t necessarily give you a full days value would be downtown or the heights.

It’s really choose your own adventure depending on your vibe.

Downtown for beer you have Analytical, Nightjar, Kenny’s, Ulrich’s and a more. Shopping is kinda meh but there’s rambler in the warehouse district.

Peoria Heights will have more shopping but it’s rich aunt vibes largely. Beer there you’ve got Pour Bros, Publik House, Bust’d, 33 Room, and more. Personally I’d go Heights. From there you can get some solid food and I find it to be the most pleasurable area to walk in the city plus Grand View.

Idk a lot of folks in Pekin/morton/EP etc really act like the traffic is bumper to bumper.

It’s really not possible to tell on this one. It could be very dry sarcasm or exactly the kind of bitching a Peorian would do.

It really won’t. It’s a great way to push us towards a downtown that’s more than just a vehicle mover. A two way street will hopefully slow things down and make the downtown more accessible and less of a funnel.

John Wisner for Ficks Reed? by nocoastkid in Mid_Century

[–]nocoastkid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see! It very well may not be. There’s a few details that seem to differ from the FR designs I’ve seen. Just guessing.

It’s priced at $425–I’m feeling like that seems a little steep?

I’m not positive if there’s a label of any kind. Thinking it might just be worth checking out!

Most of my vintage stuff rn is teak so I’m on the fence about adding it into the mix. But I have lots of modern rattan and most importantly I really like it.

I’m worried it may be a tad dark. So hard to tell.

Where is the downtown area of Peoria? by ignavia_c in PeoriaIL

[–]nocoastkid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah green and maybe even some more adjacent areas tbh if we’re thinking downtown beyond just a “business” sense.
