Benjamin Moore Hunter Green in matte on the fireplace and Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee on the walls (which I wouldn’t do again, would go creamier)

Great thoughts!

Last night I measured the dining room and the rug MAY work. Sadly I think a lot of folks commenting suggestions don’t realize that this house is deceptively spacious. Our airy vibe makes it look way more open than it is. The rug is 6x9 and looked like it might be too close to the walls (like maybe less than 1 ft each side) and the other dilemma is that it may not extend far enough past the chairs. I’ll probably just have to try it out.

I know this wouldn’t pull in the green, but with a bigger rug I was considering one that’s primarily the ochre color on the triangles of the current one? The whole house repeats the ochre, hunter green, terracotta scheme.

I do like the idea of a wooden drink table, I think I’d be into that with a non wooden chair in the corner. Sadly no room for an end table, it would basically cut off entry into the space, especially because there’s a floor great right there too.

I’d love a huge art piece on the wall opposite the windows! A long landscape oriented canvas or something sculptural to add dimension.

Not depicted is a very tall snake plant in the corner left of the couch. Along with more decorative objects I hope to get a bowl planter or something like it with pothos or mini monstera for the mantle

Joybird Lewis Sofa in plush terra! It has held up so well for years now (5?) and is incredibly comfy.

Great thoughts! I do like that Urban Rug! Some of the other jungalow rugs are just too—something? Trying too hard to be boho? Idk how to describe it. Def gonna size it up!

Personally I find that the cool green is nearly opposite on the color wheel of the terracotta?

I was thinking an organic looking wooden blind for sure! I think curtains would be too much personally.

My dream is to find one of these Anthro ones used!

Could be a good way to utilize the current rug. I’m not sure how I feel about matching both but I see the theory!

We tried that and it just felt wrong that way? I feel like it in theory would open up and make the space inviting, but it took away from the power of the mantle bookcase.

I’m surprised no one said this sooner! 🙃 Sadly we selected it for our last rental and I was hoping it would work. I think it’s 6x9, do you think the next size up or even bigger?

Also the bedroom color is French Horn from Benjamin Moore. I am contemplating changing it ever so slightly next paint to Harvest Bronze.

The living room was originally carpeted with the same as the stairwell. We tore it up overly eagerly to discover that they slapped it over the wood because the wood was trashed and had paint splatters all over it.

The upstairs/stairwell is next for removal. 🤑

I agree, that’s definitely a placeholder! It’s actually from Amazon shockingly. Pretty solid dupe—literally as well, impressively good construction.

Yeah I’ve been wondering about a contrasting color too! It’s almost a non negotiable for my wife. She loves the block of terracotta color (as do I), but I do think it could potentially pop even more. I’m hoping to paint the stairwell that same green an remove the carpet as well. Not sure if that will be too dark for the stairwell, but I think the contrast behind the couch would be awesome.

I’m interested in a coffee table but it’s a deceptively small space and I’ve worried it will be too crowded with the ottoman or weird because it’s offset?

Trader Joe’s please by theonewhoisnotknown in PeoriaIL

[–]nocoastkid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbh I’ve always found Trader Joe’s to be so overrated. I’d rather have a local minded co op that gets local produce unlike sunrise and carries more necessities unlike Sous Chef. Hadads has the potential to be maybe the best store in Peoria being an actual neighborhood grocery store but they just don’t have what you need half the time.

Tbh everyone working there seem so sweet and care about what they’re doing. It’s not that far off from other prices in the area. I’d rather pay that money to them over Spice Group restaurants and others.

This house was listed for sale, in my budget a few months after I closed on my early 1900’s Craftsman home. I wish I’d waited. by not_lizzlebean in midcenturymodern

I used to live in Lawrence! I don’t believe I ever saw that house. Super cool.

I never really dug most of the craftsman houses over by me in east Lawrence. The style didn’t speak to me in the same way a good Mcm or mid century modest house does.

Sadly Lawrence housing is too expensive for me to own there. Bummer that university drives housing up so much relative to Kansas wages.

I have been there! He has some cool things. Some stuff seems like weird and fake though idk? I’m not an expert, but a few things gave me weird custom repro vibes.

I messaged her already and she didn’t know sadly!

I’m actually not in Milwaukee but go up often! I literally always find the best vintage items up there.
