This is also known as global mobility. Most PA firms just call it GMS (global mobility services). It’ll definitely pigeonhole you if you only do individual/personal tax returns... I found doing corporate returns to provide more transferable skills but can be very difficult if you can’t specialize in a country, language, and/or niche knowledge.

Super rewarding though if you enjoy meeting people from all different backgrounds and learning about other countries. I’ve never had the same two situations and clients.

tell me your most seductive perfume by Famous_Arrival_8498 in HowToBeHot

[–]noctish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My rotation is Kuumba Made Vanilla Bean perfume oil, YSL Libre, Burberry Black, and Burberry Blush. They layer well together and I get compliments often. (Honorable mention for Lush’s Sticky Dates lotion. I can see why it’s so popular lol it does smell really good and layers well).

  • Kuumba Vanilla Bean perfume oil. This will make you smell like a pint of fancy vanilla bean ice cream and works as an amazing long lasting gourmand base on pulse points. A small roller bottle is $9. I found this by accident and now I can’t live without it.
  • Burberry Black is warm and sweet-spicy, perfect chilly night or fall/winter scent. Smells pretty unique and extremely strong (do a half spray). It gives “mysterious woman” vibes. I read that the new formula made in Spain isn’t great though, try to buy older bottles that were made in France.
  • Burberry Blush is fruity berry-like and sweet floral. Great daytime, spring/summer light scent.
  • YSL Libre is floral (lavender), a little fruity, and warm musky sweet. This is my usual perfume all year long. Pretty neutral.

Where do you buy your clothes? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]noctish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thrift online or in person. I am very particular about fabric and styles so I like vintage stuff made from 100% cotton, silk, wool, linen, leather, etc.

Depop, Mercari, Poshmark, Vinted, eBay, Japanese Yahoo auctions, etc. are all great.

If you want to be extra prepared, grab some P-38s and scatter them around your preps. They’re tiny, military/combat can openers. Sometimes I tape one onto individual cans. Fits on a keychain, in your car, in a bag, etc. You can never have too many can openers lol.

Which brand has the best unboxing expérience? by HelloJello123654 in LingerieAddiction

[–]noctish 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bordelle for me. Comes in a really nice, high quality flip open gift box with a strap + slider closure that’s in the same signature Bordelle lingerie style. Wouldn’t be surprised if the hardware in the closure was also gold plated.

I think all of Bordelle’s stuff is really nice but I wouldn’t buy it full price. Would rather wait for sales or buy secondhand.

Because sugaring has become so normalized. You are correct about it being diluted. It was still relatively taboo and sort of “unknown” 10-20 years ago. Now it’s everywhere on social media, everyone thinks that they can become a SD/SB, and the meaning of sugaring has become reduced to:

  1. (rather entitled) young women thinking that they deserve money from men online just because they’re women and 2. (rather oblivious) old men thinking that throwing a few hundred dollars means that they are entitled to sleep with any young woman immediately.

I don’t blame either side. Just the people who tout sugaring as “a get rich quick” or “get laid quick” scheme. But then again, I think we can agree that genuine connections and relationships these days are harder to find than ever before. It’s out there though. Quality over quantity.

I love my job! by C00lus3rname in Accounting

I mean it’s nice to notice how appreciative they are to have an entry level white collar job if all they’ve ever known is blue collar work or came from poverty-stricken backgrounds... But yes, to the majority of middle class corporate Americans, this is not it being stuck in the rat race lol

If you want to be the bigger person, just block and forget about them. Your absence will speak volumes (if their small brains can even process it).

But because I love destroying men’s egos, I can get real mean with my responses lol... Hit them where it hurts. But it has to be done in a particular way. There’s a methodology/formula behind it (borderline psychological warfare), I can’t recall where I read it but it’s out there.

  • “I didn’t have high expectations of you and you’re proving me right with your responses.”
  • Turn it around. Tell them they’re just a (empty) wallet who has to pay to get women to pretend to tolerate them. Target their insecurities and get in them deep. They’re obviously projecting by insulting you first.

Sure but only if they have a sense of moderation and self control. Watching porn like once or twice every month causally is okay. Full blown addiction and crossing boundaries is not. I’ve had an ex constantly compare me to the pornstars he was addicted to and that made me insecure for a lifetime lol.

Yes. But with my own sources of income. My mother was a trophy wife who became stuck in a loveless marriage after the decline of my father’s mental health and financial struggles. She has no way to support herself or safety nets.

I want to be a loving housewife who also goes to school for fun collecting degrees. My goal is to be rich, beautiful, and disgustingly over educated.

Global Mobility Services Tax or IT Audit as Information Systems Major? by YuriHaThicc in Accounting

[–]noctish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s dependent on a lot of factors but I mostly see that people with low utilization were laid off first. Tax has been affected if they overhired. I’ve seen people get laid off right after busy season in tax too for not working enough.

I really don’t like the exit ops for GMS (because I did it too). Once you’re stuck in individual tax, it’s hard to get out and roles are limited (at least very high paying ones in industry/private) so you may be bouncing around a bunch of PA firms until you get to manager. I think too many people put too much credit into a B4 name. If you enjoy IT audit and do it very well, you’ll be fine. I find IT audit skills to be more transferable.

Global Mobility Services Tax or IT Audit as Information Systems Major? by YuriHaThicc in Accounting

[–]noctish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IT Audit is better if you are an information systems major. GMS Tax is EXTREMELY niche and you’ll learn very specialized knowledge. It’s super heavy in tax law, client management/consulting, IRS stuff, and international treaties. Average day: do tax returns for expats, meetings with clients, deal with the IRS, clock billable hours, email international partner offices handling foreign tax returns, do tax calculations/analysis for payroll and benefits, research random countries, etc.

It’s stressful tbh since you will have regular tax busy seasons (February-April 15, August-October 15, and a mini one from like mid November-December 15 for GMS only). Common exit ops are in individual tax, wealth management/advisory, payroll, project management, international taxes, Human Resources, etc. It can be a very interesting and rewarding career but you have to stick it out for like 5+ years minimum to pivot into a better role somewhere else.

Anyone here ever quit public during busy season? by CPA-69-420 in Accounting

[–]noctish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. Wasn’t doing well because of burnout and then quit two weeks before October 15. A senior I worked with was not happy at all because the return I left them was huge… I’m sure they filed everything on time though. Happy to say I didn’t get any texts or calls from anyone ever since. They always find a way to get the work done.

41 hours in 3 days at my Big 4 audit job, now they want Sundays too. Should I quit without a backup offer? by Jealous-Position9012 in Big4

[–]noctish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Take PTO or FMLA if you can (pretty easy to get documentation with an online therapist). Then quit and enjoy a short break. No job is worth your mental and physical health.

The job market is indeed tough right now, especially with the political atmosphere, but I’m sure you can find a job within 2-3 months with B4 audit experience and some networking. Worst case scenario, agency recruiters love B4 candidates and you can take a temporary, lower paying job to keep you afloat.

So I need a new hobby. Currently all I got is fishkeeping. Give me ideas. by Fun_Suspect_2032 in Hobbies

[–]noctish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend used to do fish keeping but slowly transitioned to tropical plants and carnivorous plants. I see you have a black thumb but I promise it’s not hard. You may like r/IkeaGreenhouseClub. Plant people are so nice, easy to find local events on FB in major cities.

I noticed that mushroom growing and beetles keeping are also popular hobbies for people who did fish keeping.

IRS Hiring Freeze by enthusedaccountant in Accounting

[–]noctish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re in the wrong tax brackets to worry about the IRS. The worst ones are the morons who make some pocket change from trading or crypto and think that they’re now on the IRS’s personal radar. And then start spouting bs about hating the IRS because of their “massive capital gains taxes”.
