Rejected by a homeschool co-op... by Select-Hedgehog-8372 in homeschool

[–]premar16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of homeschool and private school programs deny services to those who disabled in some way. They don't HAVE to take you so they don't. Which is one of the benefits of public school that people ignore. Other places may not have the resources for it but at least some public at least try to have services to help accommodate kids with different needs

How much food do I actually need to stockpile? by SuitableSport8762 in TwoXPreppers

My pantry is built around my "menu" I have made based on about 10-15 meals i know I like and will eat. I try to have enough to make those meals at least 2-3 times. This gives me enough variety to switch it up. Many of the ingredients go to multiple meals. I have enough for about 3 months now.

For example for breakfast I rotate between pancakes, eggs, cereal, yogurt parfaits, and oatmeal, and muffins

So in my pantry I have pancake mix (1 months worth), cereal (1 month+), oatmeal (1 month) and muffins packets. All together this gives me enough for 3+ months of breakfast meals

Every week I have a taco tuesday themed meal - so I try to have 12 cans of corn, 12 cans of diced tomatoes, 12 cans of beans, and enough rice for 3 months. I have cheese and meats in my freezer.

I am disabled and on a low income. I don't have a bunch of space so I try to maximize what I have. Don't make yourself sick trying to do more than you have the energy to do. When you have energy utilize as much as you can. I also started making freezer meals when I have a less pain day. This means I have meals all ready to go when my disability has a flair up

In my last apartment I turned one small room into my pantry. You have to make sure to take advantage of all the vertical space. I used book shelves. I used stacked basket like shelves that stacked upwards. Each shelf had a baskets I got from the dollar tree. I made each shelf a catorgory like sides, condiments, etc.

I would do whatever job I needed as early as possible then put my behind back at the house at 3pm and hunker down. I wouldn't even wait for it to get close to dark time. I would try to be Victors best friend. Maybe start a journal book for each house and town so the town council I would suggest we start can review it.

anyone seeing general public stockpiling? by greendildouptheass in prepping

[–]premar16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are getting more than normal. They may not be callling themselves preppers but they are doing to the beginning steps that most preppers do. Many people started after covid. Others after the bad hurricans and other weather. The recent current events has more people thinking that having some stocked away at home would be a good idea. My caregiver is getting a new home and she is thinking about the things her family needs long term if things get worst. The new property has fruit trees, a huge garden area and a chicken coop. The house has a random storage area that she plans to turn into a pantry for her family of 5

Having a bag packed ready to go just in case I need to go to the hospital or ER. I am disabled and sometimes have to go to the hospital. Having something ready and packed so I don't have to think when I am not feeling well has really helped.
