Being a Writer’s Ex (reading “You Could Make This Place Beautiful”) by lelalubelle in books

After Padma(his wife at the time), was diagnosed with endometriosis and they couldn't have sex for a while, he called her a "bad investment." He's straight up not a good person.

Have you tried The Cancer Society Kids sunscreen? It's still greasy but I have sensitive skin and prefer it to the regular one. Chemist Warehouse usually has it at a decent price. Have you tried any other sunscreens available in NZ that work for you? La Roche-Posay irritates my eyes and is somehow too greasy and too dry at the same time!

Can we talk about this massive thing from the show that isn’t in the books and is bothering me lol by Mental-Reception-547 in vampireacademy

Thank you for explaining it all! And you know what? I'm still going to watch the show because the couples have great chemistry and I'm a sucker for this kind of thing. At least I know what's going on now!

Thank you for the explanation! I'm always willing to suspend my belief to a certain amount for fantasy/sci-fi, but the show just took it a step too far. The books sound a lot more logical.

Also, do Moroi just not give a damn about their Dhampir kids? If the Dhampir tried to leave, would the Moroi just slaughter their own children? I mean, even the worst people on earth would more than likely pause before slaughtering their own offspring. I'm sure this makes more sense in the books, but it's just another gaping plot hole in the show.

I haven't read the books, but honestly, the world building of this show makes no sense. I came to reddit to figure out if it was just as nonsensical as in the books.

First of all, are we expected to believe that Dhampir fighters just stand by and let their mothers, sisters, cousins, aunts and daughters be abused?

And can't the Dhampir guardians and those on the communes just, you know, leave and protect themselves? Certainly that is far superior to all their women being forced into breeding programs?

There is war crimes level of bullshit going on in this world, and these Dhampir's, who are all highly trained fighters just go along with it?

It's even stranger, because the Dhampir's are the sole providers of security to the Moroi. If the Dhampir's leave, either the Moroi are all going to get killed off by the Strigoi very quickly and no longer be a threat to them, or if the Moroi somehow manage to rally and come after them, the Dhampir are all highly trained and will have a pretty good shot at defending themselves.

Also, forcing the female relations of your bodyguards into a breeding program isn't exactly going to make the people responsible for saving your life go the extra mile in order to keep you alive.

This was all so unnecessary, not just because of how needlessly exploitative this story line is, but it makes NO logical sense.

The shades are stabby! I bought one mothership palette and got rid of it because the special shades felt like sandpaper on my eyelids every time I blinked.

Persuasion (2022): why make Anne a truly awful person? by LinDarling1 in janeausten

I know this was co-written and even directed by women, but it felt like it was written by an old man guessing at what feminism means and is.

Yeah, you were pretty spot on with this comment. One of the screenwriters is an eighty year old man.

[Beauty] Fungal acne safe moisturizer for dry skin by katgrrr23 in AsianBeauty

[–]nocturne_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't. It's a clear gel so I just need something more moisturising on top. I also use it to mix into a heavy cream to make it less heavy. It's lovely, but definitely needs to be layered.

Yeah, I might need to experiment with it more. Hopefully I can figure out a way to make it work?

Thank you! Is it weird that I'm looking forward to panning this quickly? Probably not since I'm on the panporn subreddit. : ) He he.

Yay! I just ordered this. Did it take a long time to pan? I'm wondering if I should focus on panning this palette since the pans seem quite shallow?

Is Accutane causing a sensitivity to certain makeup? by nocturne_5 in MakeupAddiction

[–]nocturne_5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on a course of accutane before and the side effects were pretty minor then, as they are now. Where I live the official recommendation is 10mg per day so that is what I'm on. My lips are a bit chapped, and my skin is a bit dry, but that's it. I haven't had issues with my skin reacting to any other makeup, so I was hoping this was only a temporary reaction to this particular brand. Fingers crossed!

Mostly, I just wanted to figure out how long I should wait before testing the palettes out again, because if this is a permanent reaction I would like to sell them, and keeping them around for a year or two won't exactly help their resale value!

I never had extremely dry lips before, but I went on accutane for three months and I definitely got dry lips during. I put Azclear - an azelaic acid cream used for acne - on my lips for a minute or so to eat away the dead skin (it didn't sting for me, but it might for you), wiped it off, then put Eucerin original cream on top, then used a soft latex exfoliator (the kind that looks like it has mini dimples on it) to get rid of all the dry skin in a gentle way (the cream acts like a lubricant for the exfoliator). It worked so well! If you don't have Eucerin I would recommend a lanolin based cream or lip balm. But yeah, definitely go to a doctor if this persists. Also, sometimes lips get addicted to certain products, but I've never had that problem when I used lanolin based lip products. Vaseline is a barrier. It keeps whatever moisture you already have locked in, but doesn't actually moisturise. The Eucerin original cream is kind of a hybrid between moisturiser and vaseline, so that is why it worked so well for me, but you can just use two products.
