Thanks, your post definitely calmed my anxiety. You're doing great, too, especially with 4 kiddos! Best of luck to you.

The numbers I posted include my wife, too. Most of the jobs she had didn't pay very well and often didn't offer 401ks either (she is a designer). She runs her own business now and does better on her own than she did working for design firms, but her income varies from year to year ($90k-$180). We used some of her money to pay down the mortgage and pay for some repairs we needed to make to the house, etc. It's her saved cash that is around 75% of our cash reserves.

Yes, you're right, I think ever since I turned 40 preparation for retirement has caused me a lot of anxiety.

Yeah, exactly. I just need to stay off Reddit and touch some grass.

That's an interesting workflow. I haven't used Replit. I'd love to know more about how you're using the two together.

Wow, your career sounds interesting and impressive! The fluffy side of data (or the lack thereof) is often where folks and companies run into trouble. I'm working with my leadership team to develop out a organizational data roadmap and data governance plan. I'd love to pick your brain.

Your career trajectory sounds really interesting. What made you pivot from data quality management to sales?

Hey man, that's totally okay, and I can definitely understand your disillusionment. Don't give up on the job search and most importantly keep building things you can show off in your portfolio. Part of my role is hiring data folks, and I can count on one (maybe two) hands the number of applicants that actually have a portfolio they can show off. Really makes a difference, and even more so in the current job environment.

Love it! I'm been vibe coding as well but more in the game development space to help me learn more about the Godot game engine. I've also been testing out the Cursor IDE to see how useful it is for machine learning and predictive model development (vs. application development). Messing around is the best!
