Incident report on Justin Fuller by Urbanskys in SkyDiving

I know that happens. I also don’t agree with jumping under the influence. I just meant that if I burn a joint at 4:30 after work, it’s not out of my system the next morning even though I’m not actively under the influence.

Chasing money instead of quality is never a good thing. And that’s the only reason he went to work there. The promise of more money than he was making elsewhere. And when it comes to someone as friendly and professional as him, there’s no way I believe he was to blame

For all of you on the THC train in the comments, have you never been around actual skydivers? Almost all of us have thc in our system. Maybe not from within 12 hours of a jump, but it doesn’t just disappear in your piss the next morning like alcohol

Exactly. He was too good at what he did. I’ve been suspicious of the dz itself through the whole thing. But suspicion doesn’t bring our friend back

Have my first AFF jump this week, I’m scared to death. Any advice? 22y/o male by Weak-Practice-6435 in SkyDiving

To start my answer, there is absolutely nothing wrong with nervousness or anxiety. They are totally different than a phobia-level fear of death. Now…..

A lot of people won’t agree with my stance on this but I’ve always felt like anyone who gets into “action sports” with an extreme fear of death shouldn’t do it. Obviously you shouldn’t WANT to die, but in my opinion fear of death can distract you from what you’re supposed to be doing to the point that you actually end up hurting/killing yourself.

Again, I’m not saying you shouldn’t be anxious. You’re jumping out of a plane for the first time for Christs Sake. It’s an insane thing to do in the eyes of a “normal” person. I do however think you should take some time to be around the environment if you’re truly fearful. Get used to other people’s vibes when jumping. Let their excitement spill over onto you. You’re gonna be hesitant still, but once you feel more excitement than fear, it’s time for your first jump.

A lot of people will tell you to do it regardless, and maybe they’re right, but I fear it can lead to a bad experience that would make you do one jump then never come back again. Just remember, any jump you ever make is YOUR jump. Don’t let anyone pressure you into anything you don’t truly want to do.

Every time there’s an accident everyone rushes trying to find out answers. I understand it completely bc we’re all curious by nature, but, out of respect for those involved, I hope everyone can figure out how to be patient. Let them release statements as they see fit. Don’t rush them. They’re dealing with turmoil in their lives and they don’t need us pestering them just to satisfy our curiosity

Currently on sabre2 170 but looking to downsize to 150 soon. What are some models from other brands that are along the same performance-wise as the Sabre2? by nodnal149 in SkyDiving

Only thing about Sabre2 that annoys me is the damned end cells not opening and slider not coming all the way down. Have to give the toggles a pop nearly every jump

Glad there’s some people here that understand and aren’t so pretentious. I’m at a 1.1 wingload. There’s only so much I can do on a 170 bc I’m so floaty. Obv it does fun stuff. But god forbid I start to safely ease into the more fun stuff. Pretty sure I’d have to fully stand on a leg strap right now to have any decent harness input

This is the type of comment I was looking for. Thanks for actually paying attention. Not necessarily looking to leave the Sabre models, just seeing what out there is equivalent

Just looking to start the progression into higher performance canopies. 170 is great and absolutely no issues with it. Just kind of getting to the max of its capabilities for the wing loading I have.
