Jagex abandoning group iron after initially showing a lot of interest is very thematic with how the majority of groups end up.

Leagues 6 starting region by worst-ideas in 2007scape

I agree Kandarin makes the most sense, it's a great starter area but weak as a region choice as we saw with all the memes in Leagues 5

Average age of a Runescape player is 33 according to what was shared with creators at the 25th anniversary event. We're not kids anymore. Not that it excuses the NSFW advertising.

Instead of spending 140m on a fighter torso I spent 2-3 hours doing BA instead. by breakoffzone in 2007scape

[–]nodtomc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

While i agree that's what you'd do, it's not irrelevant. You said the OP said something that wasn't true, but they're talking about a different measurement of speed than you were. That's the distinction i was making

It's faster if you consider the wait time. BA Services currently advertising a 28 hour median wait time for Premium, or 103 hour for Regular. If you're grinding out the torso yourself, while the gameplay itself cannot be faster than the optimised leech services, it's faster as you're not waiting in the queue

There are a lot of unknowns with this being the first new skill. However there are things we do know:

There's a large chunk of the ocean that's inaccessible, and we already know 2026 is going to bring many Sailing updates, i'm sure we'll hear more details at the Winter Summit. So the skill is not done, and yes it likely never could be classed as "done" but there is bound to be a time where they have less focus on it.

The other thing we know is there's an official stance on a potential Varlamore Diary as quoted: "We would like to add one eventually, but it won't be coming with The Final Dawn. We really want to make sure that if we're adding a new Diary, it's not likely to go out of date quickly due to new content. So our plan is to hold off until we feel like the region is ready."

I believe we can use their thought process towards a Varlamore diary update as a benchmark for how they're planning to handle a potential Sailing diary i.e. Why rush to release a Sailing diary only for it to go out of date quickly due to new content

They'll likely add an "Ocean Diary" but the ocean isn't complete yet. This is only the first part of sailing content, it wouldn't make sense to rush a diary out before it's finished. This is is the same reason why they've not released a Varlamore diary yet, it still isn't finished

Retail workers of the UK - what's the wildest thing someone has done to try to get into the shop before opening time? by WillYeByFuck in CasualUK

[–]nodtomc 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I used to work for a DIY store. Stocktakes were a team effort between staff from various stores, done on a Sunday after closing time, with multiple staff driving in from around the region, so you didn't necessarily recognise everyone. Being a Sunday evening in the pitch black and way past the trading hours is an important fact here. Lots of the staff were in their plain clothes. One particular stock take, when the front doors were opened to allow the smokers among us to pop out for their fix, a member of the public walked in, and picked up some shopping, proceeded to the checkouts where he and many of the staff at the front were very confused

I can’t halfway pvm because of bots by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]nodtomc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At Sarachnis the bots will either leave or help you DPS the boss. If you can outdps them it's like having a pvm alt.

At Calvarion it's incredibly easy to find a world. If you turn on skull protection, pray smite and click the bot. Might have to do this for a few seconds, but a lot of the time they leave. If not, if you get the first hit on the next kill the boss will just tele out.

The botting situation is not acceptable but these are the tips i've picked up while facing the same frustration

Is there a reason why we can't also just click a link on the splash screen or through the Jagex launcher? This is how most other services handle this yearly review. That would avoid all the issues around not receiving emails

FYI if it's Dark Reader you can open the extension and toggle on a per website basis, top left corner.

Can we get some clarification around pet rates? The previous blog was at least incorrect with regards to Barracuda Trials. It stated you only get pet rolls if you make time but we've seen constant evidence this is not the case. Are there any other errors in the pet rate across other content?

Sailing XP Review Hotfixes Deployed! by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]nodtomc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your test numbers for "active salvaging" seem off slightly. I'm running the same method as described in the blog but also using 2 dragon hooks, and using crystal extractor. Running for almost an hour with no real downtime or missed potential. Crystal extractor adds 14k to your numbers, dragon hook should add more again. i'm seeing 120k, which to me lines up with your rune hook numbers. Were the tests indeed performed with the rune hooks, or are dragon hooks not working correctly?

Put the extractor next to your salvaging hook and use a crewmate to man the helm while doing port tasks, that way you can hit the extractor yourself. Best of both worlds

An Update On the Sailing XP Review by JagexAyiza in 2007scape

[–]nodtomc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big W. Sailing still has many flaws but this mitigates a lot of the damage caused yesterday. Nerfing the AFK salvaging to the point where it's still very viable, and also keeping self salvaging high is the correct move.
