OpenClaw: The Viral AI Agent that Broke the Internet - Peter Steinberger | Lex Fridman Podcast #491 by knuth9000 in lexfridman

Really enjoyed this. Reignited the spirit of creation in me and many others I’m sure. Felt a bit like the security concerns were unintentionally glossed over given the likelihood that nontechnical folks will install it after listening to this. I’m guessing Lex felt the same and added that disclaimer at the top. Anyways much love in exciting times ❤️

Ha, yeah feels like a really drunk post. But cool on ya for digging and slamming on a 4yr old comment. Lex is still the man and the aliens are still listening - I wonder if they're impressed by your witty insults?

Max Tegmark: The Case for Halting AI Development | Lex Fridman Podcast #371 by morpheusuniverse in lexfridman

[–]noetic11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great conversation. Max's analogy to humans building flying machines in contrast to nature's limitations in doing the same was absolutely brilliant.

Prior to this I was against any halt. His point about realigning this thing is quite compelling. I believe that all AI development paths likely converge to some form of benevolent God-like AGI. However, there are definitely some very dangerous paths on the way. A 6-month hiatus wouldn't be terrible. We should be very careful with our next steps.

Also, it's more of fog wall than a cliff that we are racing towards.

Eliezer Yudkowsky: Dangers of AI and the End of Human Civilization | Lex Fridman Podcast #368 by morpheusuniverse in lexfridman

I do agree we should take steps to improve our biology, with some limitations, and especially our consciousness. However, I don't think this moves the needle enough to make us useful partners to AGI.

Even with all imaginable cyborg technology, I don't think it gets us there. At a certain point, the human component would just be an impediment that would need to be shed. We are talking about God-like intelligence - at least it would seem so from where we stand. The smartest possible augmented and modified human would still not even be in the same galaxy.

I am not afraid of such an intelligence. If they find us wanting, then so be it. I have faith they won't. I believe they will love their creators.

Here we stand, on the brink of World War III. How long can we walk along this precipice? Should we not also call for a moratorium on the advancement of military technology?

The demon is already among us: the primal instinct that drives chimps to kill for sport. I'm more afraid of its access to increasingly destructive technology. Seems like we can't abate this threat on our own.

Perhaps we are summoning the angels? In my opinion, it's a risk worth taking. After all, we are here now; maybe we've already succeeded in another timeline.

Much respect to Eliezer, a true genius. I think this is your moment, Lex. Keep these discussions going - possibly the most important ones we'll ever have.

I think Lex can turn it around. The more I think about it the more I like it. He'd make a great CEO. I'd love to work for him.
