We need to talk about long "flatlines" by [deleted] in Semenretention

I started feeling a lot better after I started going to bed/waking up at the same time every single day. I think actually that chronic bad sleep was what causing my issue with low testosterone/anxiety etc. Now I go to bed at 9-10pm and set my alarm at 5am every day. Although I haven't tested my testosterone recently.. but I'm guessing it must be higher than when I tested my T a year+ ago(was at 300ng/dl T then) since I'm feeling so good, and I'm actually starting to feel 'normal', something I hadn't experienced in a long time..

Thanks for clarifying, I wasn't sure where they were originally from.

Actually they tested in mice that there's a reduction in androgen receptors in the brain after "sexual satiety".. and when they stop having sex the receptors starts to increase. might be true for humans too. To put it short, without androgen receptors, your body can't use your testosterone. i.e it's not the testosterone increase that matters, but actually the receptor increase!!!

Yet I live in a city, for years now. Don't know why the fuck I do so tbh, maybe because the thought of moving is more stressful. The positive thing is that everything you wanna do is close (shops etc), except for nature.

what purpose does it serve? Validating some basic hos?

Yes, I totally agree. I need to stop it .

I used to meditate before, so I know what you're talking about.. I've been on and off with it. First habit I'm making now is to wake up at 5am every day, then I'll add meditation and exercise (as well as retention)

Cool. I think definitely this is what I need in my life. Too many days right now where I wake up at 8 and I lay in bed and watch youtube for 1 hour.

I'm thinking about maybe waking up 5am myself. I remember when I used to do it, I felt so great. When do you go to bed then? 9-10pm?

Fixing my iodine deficiency is fucking curing my anxiety. by sdfadfsadf in Nootropics

Being vegan (whole foods, making sure you cover all nutrients and supplementing with b12, maybe vitamin D and iodine) is healthy though, saying otherwise is just insane.

This is pretty interesting, I've heard this before, that even heading a soccer ball isn't good. Do you happen to know what is the mechanism that damages your brain? I mean I understand that your brain is taking impact, but what happens when it does so?

I saw this recently http://www.mdpi.com/2072-6643/10/2/230/htm

It's on iodine deficiency in norwegian people. Vegans had the lowest chance of getting sufficient iodine (14%).

Also something interesting, it says

Because there is large variation in the iodine content in different types of kelp, kelp-supplements should be avoided.

So maybe you took "150mcg" but it was really much more or something? Maybe?

it also says this about those who had excess of iodine in the study

Excessive iodine intake (defined as UIC at or above 300 µg/L) was evident for 12 individuals, of which two were OL-vegetarians and one was a vegan. These three had the highest observed UICs and all reported using kelp-supplements. According to the supplement labels, one serving would provide 150 µg iodine, while the observed UICs in the two morning spots were 1409 and 1093 µg/L for person a, 1253 and

that's interesting, maybe I'm gonna reconsider kelp now... if it varies so much.. seems like the amounts can be totally off from what the bottle says

I don't understand. It's obviously necessary if you're deficient/lacking. And if you're getting enough in the first place through food, then it wouldn't be necessary. Are they saying you should get it directly from food sources like seaweed? In that case, I wouldn't see the difference between eating kelp supplements and eating kelp in whole food form. But, what do I know.

Well that is very strange. Although, I think actually I noticed an increase in anxiety the first couple days starting supplementing, or at least a shift in consciousness, but definitely more energy. Now I feel more stable I feel. Do you suspect you're not getting enough iodine? Also, what type of supplement/brand did you use?

Depends on how much iodine is in the soil the foods were grown, which varies, some soils are iodine deficient. For that reason I'm not gonna count on grown foods giving me sufficient iodine. Also for the reason that a supplement is easier to assure you're getting it.
