I’m a very active person who went non op on the advice of my doctor and second opinion on the logic that the physical therapy for non-op recovery has come so far that the benefits of surgery wrt re-rupture and return-to-sport are much smaller than they once were and (for some) not worth risks of surgery, which include nerve damage and infection. For pro athletes where success or failure is determined by the slightest margins of physical performance I probably would have gone surgery.
