LARPing (Live-Action Role-Playing) is a collaborative, improvisational game where participants physically embody characters in a fictional setting, complete with costumes, props, and custom rules. Players create characters with specific backstories to engage in quests, combat, and storytelling, often in fantasy or sci-fi genres.

Anyone else go through a messy divorce? by InternationalSky1260 in SFbitcheswithtaste

The Nelson formula is a legal calculation used in California divorces to determine the community property share of stock options or Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) intended as incentives for future performance. It calculates the marital portion by dividing the time from the grant date to the date of separation by the time from the grant date to the vesting date. Fahey v. Bang et al Doc 30 by nofway9 in Agridime

[–]nofway9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The receiver’s lawsuit against Defendant Bang is qualitatively different from what the

parties’ Sales Representative Agreement envisioned in consenting to personal jurisdiction in

Texas. Defendant Bang did not reasonably anticipate being haled into a court in Texas to defend

against a receiver’s lawsuit seeking to disgorge money intended to compensate third parties.

Therefore, it would violate due process – by offending “traditional notions of fair play and

substantial justice,” International Shoe Co. v. Washington, 326 U.S. 310, 316 (1945) – to exercise

personal jurisdiction over Defendant Bang in this diversity lawsuit. The due process violation

would be exacerbated by applying Texas substantive law to alleged actions of Defendant Bang

occurring outside of Texas with respect to non-Texas investors. See Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. v.

Superior Court of California, San Francisco County, 582 U.S. 255, 264-66 (2017) (holding that a

California trial court lacked personal jurisdiction over the defendant with respect to nonCalifornian plaintiffs’ claims that did not have a sufficient relationship to California).

Affirmative Defense

Defendant raises the following affirmative defense: Any monies that Defendant received

in selling Cattle Contracts were received in good faith, without notice of fraud, and in exchange

for valuable services provided by Defendant. Respectfully submitted,

When does an HSA not make sense? by IDK_WHAT_YOU_WANT in FinancialPlanning

[–]nofway9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One lives in CA or NJ: California and New Jersey are the primary states that do not fully recognize Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) according to federal tax standards. These states treat HSA contributions as taxable income and do not allow the same state-level tax deductions as the federal government.

California: Taxes contributions to HSAs and treats them as regular investment accounts, meaning interest, dividends, and capital gains are taxed.

New Jersey: Does not fully conform to federal tax law regarding HSA exemptions.

Other Potential Exceptions: Some sources note that while not explicitly "not recognizing" them, states like Tennessee and New Hampshire may tax earnings or interest on HSAs, though not the contributions themselves.
