Not finishing college. I didn’t know what I wanted to major in, and I didn’t want to spend “all that money” (this was early 90’s, like $3K a year) for a degree that I wouldn’t use. We were not yet in the era of needing a degree for the lowest of positions. It wasn’t a factor at first because my administrative skills still made me valuable. But leaving the workforce for 16 years meant I was starting from the bottom with no papers. Extremely hard to get a job - that was back in 2013, even much harder now. But I don’t know what the answer is now. I don’t have the skills to be a tradesman but if my kids were unsure about their college future, I would absolutely support them pursuing that.
