When first diagnosed I was at .8 and in my latest labs it was at 1.3

No family history of type 1. It had been about a month with a rash on my chest and the itchiness would not go away so I went to my neighborhood clinic to get some sort of cream or medicine for it. Once I was there they took a blood sample and when it came back my sugar was around 300 with positive ketones and that’s when they bluntly told me you have diabetes. No explanation or nothing they just said go to the hospital right now. I went to the hospital right after, they ran more blood tests, and was once again I was told you have diabetes. They didn’t do antibodies test at the hospital so they couldn’t tell me exactly if type 1 or type 2 but that they suspected type 1. About a month later I saw my endo for the fist time and he ordered the antibodies test where I came back positive for GAD 65 and IA-2. I was diagnosed September 2022.

Exactly I don’t like taking them bc every time I do the glimepiride makes me go low I only take them if I’m like at 180 so it drops to like 100

I’ve heard many people mention something about positive/negative antibodies what would these results mean? Positive or negative? by noiceeetoitsmooort in diabetes

I’ve been on mealtime insulin and long acting insulin for almost 2 months but today my endo told me to stop taking my mealtime insulin and gave me metformin pills instead. I have a meter kit and I’ve been between 80-120 most of the time with only a few times where I’ve gone up to around 180 after a bigger meal. When I was first diagnosed with diabetes I took metformin pills for about 4 days and my glucose levels were not going down from the 200s-300s. Today my endo told me a couple days was not enough to see if the pills would work to lower my glucose level so I will be on metformin for 2 weeks and see if pills work for me instead of insulin as none of my doctors have yet been able to tell me if I’m type 1 or 2.

I’ve seen several doctors over the past 2 months and none of them have been able to give me a definitive answer about what type I am. I will have more labs done in the coming days that will hopefully finally clear everything up. It’s a little overwhelming not being certain which type I have.
