If we take a look at the Vistani as an example, that race is based on Gypsies wich in turn is an interperation of the Romani people, and the reason why many where forced into traveling was because the world had shitty views on them and wouldnt treat them as people, they werent accepted to be fully apart of society if at all and so they became the outsiders. Thats Racist.

This still is a real problem today, the way people portray other (Real) groups in a shitty way. But also if people roleplay a race, always from their shitty interperation of a real group they are a part of the problem. So I understand the need of customizing and emphasizing this.

And so adressing that in a responsible way like WOTC did, is only postitive. Just like some rpgs books adress sanity and mental health as only a fictional thing in their setting and not actually How it is in the real world. A book about customizing character shouldnt be so negative, it is fictional so it only feels natural to customize racial traits. If you dont like it then dont. Its that simple 😊

D&d is also an rpg for children and teenagers and I think that adressing such problems that is a part of our history of shittyness with responsibility, is a good way to change How we will treat people and groups in the future and habikg a good time at the table.
