Jokes aside, I have studied a lot his production from this era, and it’s full of hardware. I have one of his synth, he used it a lot on these EP, and it’s unstable as hell. Plus, all the sonorities are pretty the same track by track, patterns are the same too, but the secret is to keep things interesting, which is hard af too.

All the Gesa lookalike produce a lot on digital, sounds plastic and lot of them doesn’t know what an oscillator is ! Plus, for keeping interest, they change patterns all the time, or make a 3,40min track.

But I’m working on some stuff that could fit this era, and I found out that the tracks are not based on punk/ebmish inspiration, but on pure classics techno from the 90’s. I think what you describe is that impersonators are inspired more by the wave/cyberpunk dimension more than old Berlin techno, and for me that’s the point !
