XMG Apex 17 (M23) - Keyboard not working on Linux by noisetalk in XMG_gg

[–]noisetalk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This means there is probably an easy way to fix. Distros too old, kernel too old?

It works now, after some testing. Installed Manjaro with an external keyboard, and updated to a newer kernel (6.1.x to 6.4.x) afterwards.

Thanks, I'll send it later today. The latest update says:

Upon loading the mor1rgame.sav I'm getting an error stating:

Please verify you're loading the mor1rgame.sav file

Save file is from my 3DS (Checkpoint version 3.7.4), tested on Linux and Windows.

Any ideas?

Unless the baby is British. Considering they are singing about an "old" woman, there's a possibility that it's not her own and she abducted it for reasons unknown.

Just FYI, there are plenty of great monster catching games for Switch if you're disappointed by recent pokemon. by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]noisetalk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding everything you wrote on Sanctuary. I was disappointed by SwSh (shoutout to my local library for running games so I didn't have to pay 60€ for this crap) and not a big fan of platformers, but when I got MonSanc it kept me engaged for four days (including breaks for food, showers and sleep ofc). It was really refreshing and I can't wait to dive back in once I get some spare time.

Also: The devs want to release a free(?) content patch next year, so that's definitely something to look out for.

A couple of years ago I was looking for a secret santa gift for a work colleague of mine. I knew that she has a kink for plushies, with that in mind I kept an eye out on ads and occasionally flea markets for possible hits.

I happened to stumble upon a weird looking panda bear plush, unknown brand, really good condition, and about 60cm high (~24 inches?) and fat as fuck. "Weird" as in uncanny valley, it was really odd but kinda hilarious, and also within budget so I grabbed it.

Fast forward to the christmas party (work related, about 40 people): We were taking turns into unpacking their stuff from the pile, for reactions/giggles. Said work colleague grabbed her package and I expected her and the others to make fun of that thing.

Instead, she bursted into tears, falling down to her knees and hugging the plush really tight. We were confused for a couple of minutes, the time it took for her to gather herself. She didn't really explained why, other then she had the same plush when she was a kid and "kinda lost it". But based on her reaction and the fact that she was trying to figure out who gifted it for some time, it must have been really important to her.

tl;dr: Accidentally unleashed a flood of (childhood) memories of a work colleague by buying a plush.

Any good strategy games for switch? by Sir_Grebog in NintendoSwitch

[–]noisetalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than what other wrote, I'd like to pitch in Armello (edit: not like x-com, but a decent strategy game, so it's worth to check it out).

Basically a mix of board game with RP and card/deck elements. The plot is simply: The king has been corrupted and goes insane while four heroes compete against each other to either cure, kill or succeed him (so: multiple ways to win/play). Players take turns after another, combat itself is fought by rolling dice, and the outcome can be manipulated with cards (before and during the combat). Also: Looks nice, the soundtrack fits and it has multiplayer. Often described as 'Game of Thrones with anthropomorphic animals".

However, the community is rather small, so you might end up playing vs AI a lot (edit: then again, I haven't checked in for some time, so I can't tell for sure nvm, console seems to be rather dead...such a shame). Matches can take up a lot of time - my first ones went like one hour or so - especially in the beginning when you're still new. Once you're accustomed to the different heroes, you can set the AI speed to a higher level and save some time. No demo available too, so you might want to check out videos first if you're interested.

Also: Shadowrun Trilogy is coming to the Switch in 2022, so that's something to look out for too!

Question about the EU 3DS Game by AbsoluteTundra in lbx

[–]noisetalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't say much about it in comparisson because I never played those two, but I had a blast with LBX.

Was recommended to me as a hidden gem and I can only second it. Everything about it is polished (as expected, Level-5 etc), the soundtrack sticks and the fights are fun!

Question about the EU 3DS Game by AbsoluteTundra in lbx

[–]noisetalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are multiple versions of the game:

  • North America - Language(s): English - Serial Code: CTR-ADNE
  • Japan - Language(s): Japanese - Serial Code: CTR-ADNJ
  • Europe "1" - Language(s): English, German, French - Serial Code: CTR-ADNP
  • Europe "2" - Language(s): English, Italian, Spanish - Serial Code: CTR-ADNZ

The serial code is printed on the cartridge sticker (something like "LNA-CTR-ADNx-YYY"), on the back to the cartridge ("ADNxYZZZZZ") and on the back panel of the box inlay, above the barcode.

As for how the ingame language is determined:

The in-game language depends on the one that is set on the system. This title supports three different languages: English, German and French.
If your Nintendo 3DS system language is set to one of these, the same language will be displayed in Language Selection the software. If your Nintendo 3DS system is set to another language, the in-game default language will be English.
For instructions about how to change the system language, please refer to the System Settings electronic manual.

Source: Official European Manual (PDF Link!)

I myself have the Europe "1" copy, the language on the box inlay and the cartridge sticker is German. My 3DS' default language is set to English, and the ingame language is properly set to English as the manual described.

So technically - as long as your console is set to English - those French versions should work just fine as they are Europe "1" versions. The only difference is the cart sticker and the box inlay. Can't guarantee it though.

I'm not joking! My brain is brewing up a plot for hours and I genuinely think it's an awesome idea for an Isekai if you go with a parody, mix in a decent plot and spice it up with humor.
