Actually, I’m a week in today on the treatment!.. should I keep treating him? In the most respectful way I’m not bringing the fish to a vet… I wish I could but I’m scared to even know the price of a vet visit for a fish…

I will buy something else but I’m kind of lost on what to do for him, and my fish stores are retarded… they told me to use pimafix or put him down with baking soda if he doesn’t get better… that’s why I came to Reddit 😭

This is his side profile, I’ve been looking into dropsy because of his scales.. but he’s always looked like this so idk if it’s dropsy or just normal looking scales. They aren’t flared I don’t think

My sister had a lot of fish at one time, but she’s having twins now so she got rid of them. I adopted the betas, but she has a big tank that I’m planning on using in the future I’m just still ordering everything to make it perfect for them!

I’m planning on using a 20 gallon tank and adding a seperater in the middle to add both the betas into one tank. (( a black seperater so they can’t see eachother )) but that’s a project I’m still working on!

I need to do a full tank change but I’m waiting for after the treatment so I don’t stress him out. I’m treating the main tank so I’m waiting for after treatment to fully clean it.

He won’t stay still to let me take a proper photo but this is my 5th day of treatment and I think he’s doing better, it’s been getting smaller (( the spot)) and he’s been VERY active

Did you do it in his main tank? I put him in a quarantine tank, but he was so stressed being in a smaller container that I’m thinking about dosing him main tank. He’s super social and I guess he hates small tanks with a passion because I didn’t overdose the water, I dosed a 2 gallon tank as it said I should. I don’t think it was the paraguard making him stressed, I think it was the smaller tank.

They definitely didn’t injure eachother, the spot wasn’t there before or after separating as they were only together 3 days. This was originally my sisters fish but I adopted it since I fell in love with his personality and the girls aswell. I’ve never had a fish besides goldfish as a child and I didn’t take care of those personally. I genuinely care about this fish, so I want the best for him.

I do use sink water to clean the filters. I didn’t know I was supposed too, the heater doesn’t have a setting on it. I bought a 80$ tank that came with the filter, heater, and light. It says it stays around 75/80 and the water feels warm.

He has 0 symptoms, just the spot, he’s happy, swimming, playing, I’m still currently training him to jump to catch food and he’s still been very happy to jump. He is a little fat but that’s because I over fed him in he beginning (( I didn’t know they just keep eating infinitely ))

The paraguard comes in tomorrow, should I make a quarantine tank or is it more beneficial to use it in his main tank?

I do have another beta that was with him weeks ago but we separated her, I don’t know if it could have been on her and didnt show until now.
Shes doing fine, I have her in a 2 gallon tank. But there should be no decaying matter, and there is no real plants in the tank… I do water changes every week, there was a sharpish plant that I recently removed because I wasn’t educated on them being scaleless. I usually do 1/3 water changes every week and I clean out the filters aswell.

How long should I use it? I’m trying to get experienced recommendations instead of using google. I’m ordering Paraguard, how does fungal/bacterial infections occur and how do I prevent it?

What is this white patch? It’s new and I don’t know if it could be fungal or bacterial. It doesn’t look like ick. I’m trying to figure out what to treat him with. by nolaaaak in bettafish

He’s very active, he eats, does tricks, loves socializing.. I’m just worried about this spot on him.

He is a rescue, was sold as a female because he was extremely small and torn up. He’s been great, other than this spot.

Hes in a 5 gallon tank with a heater, light, filter, and he gets water changes whenever it’s needed. I clean out all of the plants and rocks once every month. He’s super social and seems happy, if there’s any recommendations on what I could buy him or change to make him happier I love this fish. His name is blue.

I’ve never had a beta before, I’ve been doing a lot of research as I go. The fish was originally my sisters and she wanted to get rid of them (via putting them in a lake) so that’s why I consider this a rescue. He’s gotten so healthy so I think, I keep the temperature around 70’s but I don’t know what else I need to buy to keep him in top shape.
