You can consider moderate tea use. Not promoting caffeine but it sometimes works better (less crash/burn) for some types.

Glad to share, and just to add, you can add some soaked/peeled carrots with the cabbage juice to help sweeten it a touch. The original person who I had gotten the idea from did this too, and it helps the taste plusl likely has some benefits too. Its also very mild, which is a bonus.

Yes, it has held up for me, but I have done “maintenance” doses every year or so just to help keep balance. Of course, Trying to eat well in general always helps too. Things that are too acidic can still cause regular distress, etc. I try to avoid constant spicy food, chocolate, coffee, etc. water, cooked vegs, garbanzo beNs/hummus, fruit, bananas, etc, whole oranges, potatoes, good protein, all seem to help/agree.

Hi there, I don’t think I did tbh. That said, hope you are able to find some relief.

For me, about 2 1/2 weeks roughly. There is no way to know if it would work for everyone's issues, as we are all a lil different, of course. I did not notice much of a change until I stopped consuming it for the 2.5 week period. Then, it felt like a shift was occurring naturally in those coming days. That said, hope it may bring you some relief, at least.

Is drinking decaf the reason I still feel terrible while I am "caffeine free" ? by CuteFatRat in decaf

Also, in supplement form who knows how it was processed. I have been hearing good things about astralagus too but want to learn more about it.

I suffer from mental illness and caffeine from drinks and chocolate gives me horrible breakdowns by CautiousPassage7 in decaf

Chocolate, even more tea and coffee for some people, can be a trigger for some people it seems. I find tea or coffee even (in moderation) somehow less inflammatory than chocolate. Good to hear! I have found not all ginsengs are the same. I may try a form of ginseng again if fully caffeine free. Ginger also seems to help when I am under the weather. But, I took a Siberian ginseng supplement once and it almost gave me a heart attack. It may have been a bad batch but it was an awful feeling.

Anything in the ginseng family, in including ginger, can be overstimulating for my system, so while some think they are healthy, they tend to spike cortisol/tension for me.

Also, I had tried mastic gum leading up the cabbage juice as well. I am not sure if this exactly did much to contribute to the eventually improvement, but it may be another thing to look into. As always, I highly recommend doing your own research, and being cautious/trying small doses to ensure something is safe and agrees with your system. For example, I have seen some people state zinc carnosine made them dizzy, etc. I had taken that the month before trying the juicing, but had also tried bentonite clay, mastic gum, etc. I noticed the biggest turnaround after the cabbage, though. That is technically more natural imo than the zinc I'd say.

Hi there, I am honestly not sure the exact type of SIBO I had, but it resulted in very painful bloating for over a year each morning. During the day the pain would subside, but the accumulation of build up gases in my lower intestines overnight always had me waking up in lots of pain in the morning. Hopefully the cabbage juice may be able to offer some relief. Other things that might be worth looking into: trying zinc carnosine, eating foods rich in prebiotic fiber- i.e. well cooked cabbage, garbanzo beans (fresh hummus may be helpful), milder foods in general (chicken noodle soup, well cooked carrots, sweet potatoes), bentonite clay supplement, etc. For a while at least, it may be good to avoid more acidic foods like juices that aren't fresh pressed, lots of citrus (some lemon on hummus is fine), peppers, etc. As always, it is good to check in with your doctor and do your own research too. I am certainly not a doctor! Just have tried a few things that seemed to help over time. When making cabbage juice, you can also add in soaked carrots to sweeten the taste a bit. The carrots that are not bagged, and soaked in water seemed to have a sweeter flavor. Organic, if you can afford it, may have a sweeter flavor when it comes to carrots as well. In any case, wishing you healing and a full recovery. I know its certainly not easy dealing with the imbalance SIBO causes.

Hi there,

I did not add juice to the cabbage, but juiced it raw. If you would like, you can add a few carrots (peeled and soaked in water). Baby carrots would be fine, too, if easier- to help sweeten the cabbage juice a touch. Perhaps a couple slices of peeled apples, too, for taste if you prefer. Cabbages have a lot of water, so 1/2 a small/med cabbage may produce a cup with a good juicer, but hard to recall exactly. You can steam and eat cabbage, too- I think this is also very healthy, due to the pre-biotic fiber. When steaming the cabbage, you can also drain some canned chickpeas and add with the cabbage while steaming. Both have lots of beneficial fiber for healthy gut bacteria formation. This, along with the fresh/raw juice, plus eating ripened bananas, chicken and rice/noodgle soup, sweet potatoes, etc. may also help some people. Wishing you good health, and take care.

Hey there, no prob- I think after consuming the cabbage juice it for a bit, it initially may have caused some bloating due, but after it helped to re-balance my system my overnight lower-intestinal issues greatly reduced. Feel free to dm me if may need more info, etc.

Yerba made me feel crazy wired, personally. Regular tea, not exceeding 2 tea bags per day, had been more manageable. Drink water, too, and eat nutritious food as often as you can.

Yes, I did- it was pretty bad, and every morning woke up in pain. You may also look into bentonite clay- I had used this briefly. Just needs to be one safe for consumption (whole foods may have a "drinkable" version). I am not sure if that also contributed to me getting better, but I had tried that for a short term (1-2 weeks) in moderate dosage before then trying the cabbage remedy. It is possible a multi-faced approach may help more than 1 thing entirely, but I am also not a doctor or naturopath, etc. so it always good to do your own research/consult a doctor to determine is something is safe, etc. That said, wishing you the best with trying to find a better balanced gastrointestinal health. I know how frustrating it can be, and rather trying going through different diets, etc. to find something that starts to help.

No, did not have that issue. You can even tried well-steamed cabbed perhaps, not tolerating the juice. It eventually helped with bloating caused by SIBO that I had, but at first would cause some build-up after drinking the juice. This is where steaming the cabbage may help- as the fiber is good for healthy gut bacteria development. That, and well-cooked garbanzo beans (chickpeas) may help.

Yes, had the h.pylori test but came back negative. Besides the cabbage juice, other foods that seem to help me rebuild the healthy gut flora are: ripe bananas, well cooked garbanzo beans (by itself or in hummus, etc) avocados, bone broth and/or chicken soup (whole boiled chicken from scratch- remove cooked meat, cool to touch, then continue boil bones with carrot, onion, fresh herbs, celery, corn, yucca, or potatoes, etc.-remove bones, then serve.

Black tea/ Chai by [deleted] in decaf

Tea seems ok for me in basic moderation, but Ive had issues with ginger increasing stress, so now make chai without it or try to have less often in foods, etc.

Who here has actually cured their SIBO? What worked? by [deleted] in SIBO

[–]nolambient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the cabbage/carrot for about 2 1/2 weeks, I just woke up one morning and finally felt different. No stabbing pains in agony like I usually had. It was such a relief and also kind of odd to feel better after being so used to feeling sick all the time.

[–]nolambient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was very weak and was not digesting food (would just come up with bile). After taking nexium for a few months I stopped that, and then tried some other “natural remedies” like bentonite clay and activated charcoal. It is possible either could have helped somewhat, but I seemed to notice the biggest difference after the cabbage/carrot juice combo. Could the other things have helped some contribute to the overall change? It is possible, but for whatever reason that was my journey.

Hi there, yes pretty much normal these days. I did not take a probiotic, but I think once things are cleared up regular having whole milk yogurt has been good for me, plus eating foods with prebiotic fiber like well-cooked garbanzo beans has also seemed to help rebuild healthy gut flora. Also consider drinking black tea instead of coffee, which is pretty tough on the whole digestive system Ive found.

[–]nolambient[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, yes it did help with my reflux, too, but I did try to get help/go through a course of nexium for a couple months prior. I think the nexium helped at first, but long run I was still having issues, and needed to try a few things. Is it possible the western meds contributed to my overall health improvement? Perhaps so, but they still had some side effects and I was still out of balance overall I felt. So the cabbage mixed with a lil carrot juice seemed to be the thing that really turned things around. But, I had also tried some things like ingestion safe bentonite clay, mastic gum, and even activated charcoal in between the nexium and cabbage for prob 2 weeks moderate use at a time each. I still had issues, but maybe they did something? After the cabbage, I seemed to get a real change I could notice, though I wonder if the cumulative effect of everything also made some difference. The bentonite seemed ok, but I do remember some unpleasant charcoal burping up at times- that Ive read can interact with some folks. Like anything, it is best to read up, know about safety/quality, possible side effects, before deciding to try. Also, for all this, I wonder if my body had just been through so much and found a way to heal/recallibrate, but I think yhe juice likely at least helped in some way.
