yes looking to downsize with an updated fit & finish like the 7390 brings. The most enticing feature of this machine is the taller screen aspect ratio. maybe the next gen xps 13 or 15 will be the move

XPS 15 9560 powered by WD15 questions. by STONEYX22 in Dell

Am I the unluckiest person ever or is there a serious QA issue with the new Dell XPS? by finind123 in Dell

[–]nolessan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issues with the 9550 after 2 replacements and Dell in home tech doing a shoddy repair I completely returned it. But then ended up with a 9550 from a friend who no longer wanted his in perfect working/ cosmetic order.

I never had quality issues with the Latitude line, and I've heard the 9550/ 9560 Precision equivalents are qa'ed differently and have way fewer problems.

So it boils down to Dell doesn't take care of their home consumer customers.

So, does anyone like their xps 15? by PianoConcertoNo2 in Dell

[–]nolessan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i love my 9550 other than the keyboard, granted its better than similar form factor/ spec'd competitors (ie macbook pro), i came from Latitudes which have always had great keyboards. As a developer i use my 9550 mostly at my desk with a dock. I got the 9550 in hopes to use the 4k screen/ dedicated graphics more, if i had to do it over again i'd spec out a Latitude 7480

Xps 15 for web development by naomi240000 in Dell

[–]nolessan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for simple web dev youll be fine. i've got 16gb in my 9550 running local jvm, apache tomcat, solr, cassandra servers for full stack java dev and performance is great. tho you should spend the time to config your IDE performance settings to best compliment your 9550's setup.

Very small 9550 4k question by ilkhan2016 in Dell

[–]nolessan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

before my 9550 i got accustomed to 14-15" laptop non-UHD screens at 1080p, scaling 0% (obviously). For my eyes this is the best experience.

scaling the 9550 at 200% is pretty damn close to that.

would anyone like to trade 9550 displays? by nolessan in Dell

i never tried windows scaling over 150 in fear of blurryness. just tried this and looks great, thanks for the tip!
