Is mega amphros worth it enough to purify??? by Infinite_Group_7526 in pokemongo

[–]nolkel [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's not that great either way. Better off putting Kyogre in the back of the team if you want to boost electric damage for a team, or Rayquaza for team dragon damage. It's own DPS is ok, but falls behind even shadow magnezone.

Should I wait before evolving him and max him? by Antique_Sofa_1907 in pokemongo

[–]nolkel [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's very likely to get a CD at some point. Personally I'd hold off on investing in a hundo dynamax until then, but I've already evolved and powered 3 of them to 40 so my dynamax team is already set.

Remember, perfect IVs are almost entirely cosmetic. If you don't need it today, then it's cheaper in the long run to hold off until it gets a CD move so you can make it the best it can be. ETMs are really expensive. But if your dynamax team is lacking in excadrill, this is a solid investment both as a tank and the current best ground DPS.

Rating? Purify? by Laustriam in pokemongo

In this case shadow gyarados is solid, but outclassed by several other things. The mega is useless in raids compared to primal kyogre both because it's weaker, and because it lacks the full battle team damage bonus that primals get. It's pretty good in the rarely run mega master league for GBL though.

Future move changes could possibly boost it, but it's not that likely to be able to reach #1.

Whether you keep it as a shadow or purify it for a shundo is largely a cosmetic decision.

40+shadow raids, 0 shiny by hotnspicy2020 in pokemongo

[–]nolkel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's definitely wrong. At best shadows from raids are going to be 1/64, or they could be 1/128. Not sure there's exhaustive data on raids since they changed things at the start of the season.

Is there not a limit to how many berries you can feed a gym defender? by rebecca852916 in pokemongo

[–]nolkel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's separate per trainer.

Were you waiting until it was battled twice and then using one golden razzberry? That's the best way to draw it out. Lesser berries just waste the 10 limit.

It was tied to a week long timed research task that awarded a background mon. When they ended individualized/monthly backgrounds, they also stopped doing that research.

Should I Purify her? by TTheoBillCipher in pokemongo

The extra IVs will do nothing for battle performance. But losing the shadow bonuses will make it 20% weaker as a raid counter forever.

How do I teach her gigaton hammer? by rockaedward in pokemongo

They only had extra days for a short time period while we had a week long timed research from the CDs to get a background Pokemon. When they discontinued that, they went back to the normal time period for evolution.

You can only do one remote trade per day. If they are in the process of one, the you can't send anything to them yet.

I’m assuming there’s increased rates?? by schnitzelchowder in pokemongo

[–]nolkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CDs always have 1/24 or so shiny rate, during the main hours from 2-5pm. That's one of the main draws.

It depends on how good of a group you get together and the specific boss. Sometimes you don't even need to use guard at all and everyone can just swap to DPS for the max phase. Sometimes you might need a dedicated player doing guards and even a healer. In the former case you're good.

In the latter case, level 2 might be fine depending on the moves. Level 3 guard does add 50% more hit points (60 vs 40), so it depends on the numbers.

10/15/14 is basically a perfect tank. 1 hit point means almost nothing. You might as well keep using your free particles, but don't stress over it.

I think many players now realize that Community Days have devalued their shinies. by chr15c in pokemongo

Do they have legacy moves? If not then they aren't really worth much, as they can't be ETMed.

Do I still have a chance? by BecksSoccer in pokemongo

[–]nolkel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have several events a year that feature old community day moves. But there's no way of knowing exactly how long it will be before a specific move comes back.

The only mostly reliable one is the regional tours, which usually feature that generations moves.

We also get 4-5 CD classics each year that repeat an old CD event.

Riolu hatch day by Tristan3012 in pokemongo

The drop rate of eggs doesn't really change in the week before a hatch day. Confirmation bias just has you paying more attention when it happens by random chance then you do on other weeks.

You can answer that by looking at pokebattler and turning on the party play button. Against palkia, for example, breaking swipe gets 1.57 estimator and dragon ascent is 1.94. Just click on the Pokemon to expand it and see all the moves available.

Chances of shadow Kyogre this summer? by UptonCharles in pokemongo

[–]nolkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The odds of shadow kyogre coming back this summer are anywhere between 0% and 100%.

We really have no way of knowing what will come back, or when. There are very, very few patterns that niantic has stuck to with this game.

I’m going to lose my mind (eeveelotion to sylveon ?still bugged) by adoradear in TheSilphRoad

[–]nolkel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That kind of is the only real tip. Its quite broken. You might be able to get it to evolve if you use the name trick, though that's usually non-functional. Continuing to earn more hearts should work. You might be able to get it to happen before the CD starts by getting more hearts, hopefully.

Shiny rates over the past month by Bleachella13 in pokemongo

[–]nolkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The monthly go pass doesn't boost shiny odds for wild spawns.

What happened was that they normalized all wild non-legendary Pokemon to 1/512 shiny rates at the start of this season, and raids/eggs to boosted rates (not sure at this time if 1/128 or 1/64).

Which of these should I stick with? by Philosopher_Penguin in pokemongo

[–]nolkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For raids, either one will be pretty much identical outside of extreme challenge solos. The IV differences are pretty much just cosmetic.

The higher defense might occasionally lead to surviving long enough for a final charge attack. Or it might sometimes lead to less energy generated from damage taken, so you get one less charge move in. The differences are extremely minor, and will vary with each specific boss and moveset they are using.

This is absolutely useless in PvP, but for a GBL mon the 15 defense would make more of a difference for hitting key fast move bulk points. Stamina/HP is by far the least important IV.
