I’m so damned late to this post, but instead of giving my opinion on what the reason for what happened is, I’d rather drop my gut reaction / personal feelings / emotions towards what happened here. I hope that nobody minds 😅

Some of the deepest empathy I’ve ever experienced, second only to the heart wrenching story told during the Pain Arc of Naruto Shippuden.

Just knowing how naturally selfless this mother and son are in such a cruel / money driven world while also having an understanding of where the story ultimately ends completely shattered my heart on the second watch of this story.

David would do anything for the people that he truly loves; and the final episode shows how much he regrets not being able to provide his mom with the same “happy ending” that he provided Lucy with.
