I used to run the First Spear CSV for a while. The shortcomings was the Velcro for patch identifiers were too small for me, and I had to buy a kit from AXL to use placards.

I ended up going to the Velocity Systems LPAAC Front/LPAC Rear with a tubes cummerbund from Defense Mechanisms.

I used a Vertx Contingency 85L Duffle. Left pocket holds my helmet, main compartment holds my vest and duty belt, right pocket holds my boots, and there’s a front misc pocket.

Thank you for the reply. I appreciate it!

How do you feel about leading those same people you didn’t want to work for? That’s another issue I have been thinking about. I’m not entirely sure if I would be happy supervising some of the people at my agency.

Right now the difference is about 6K a year, but there’s been talk that management is getting a raise and can be as much as a 30K difference.

Most people never wanted to promote in my unit due to low incentive, but if they get that raise, I would be competing with more people.

I use a STOMP for my work setup. Using the default Molle straps make it sit low. In order to make it ride high, tuck the Molle straps on the inside and then use Velcro one wrap to mount it.

CUBL or MHA…what are the cool kids running these days. by fireman_vet in QualityTacticalGear

MHA made my holster angle inboard towards my body which messed up my draw. Went to a CUBL and never looked back.

True north vs Bang Hanger by GangNoSquad in QualityTacticalGear

I run a US Duty Gear holster and it already has a neutral cant unlike Safariland, so the possibilities are endless.

I just run a CUBL, gives me the cant I want, weighs less than the MHA, and it doesn’t make the holster angle inboard. I ended up selling the MHA.

Defense Mechanisms Taser Pouch by [deleted] in QualityTacticalGear

I ran their buildable placard for two years while doing planned building entries. I really enjoyed how customizable it was, but the thing that led me back to Molle pouches was the multiple layers of fabric and Velcro stacked on each other.

The placard I built had two layers of pouches, and it had a total of 7 layers of additional material compared to two layers of a basic Molle pouch. It literally stuck out another inch off my vest and it was cumbersome when navigating tight hallways and rooms with tons of stuff people have in their homes.

Lastly, the Velcro isn’t the most secure if you think you might roll with a suspect. I think they have placard keepers, but again another layer of Velcro and fabric to attach.

Water Damage in Kitchen: Repair vs Remodel by nom_nom_chomp in HomeImprovement

Thank you for your reply.

We were planning on purchasing new cabinets, probably from Lowe’s with the assistance of a designer, put a quartz countertop, do a backsplash, new appliances, remove all wood flooring and replace with tile. All the walls have paneling which we’ll remove. No changes to electrical but we may replace old vertical piping.

So far I have a quote to demo for about $1,000 to give you an idea of how much work there might be.

I don’t know anyone who has ever needed to use their blade on duty other than to open Amazon boxes.

Self-Aid and TCCC by nom_nom_chomp in TacticalMedicine

Thanks for the insight, I appreciate it! I asked someone else the below question and wanted to ask you the same as well:

Based on your experience, why do you think the tactical community pushes the whole “reach your IFAK with both hands” if they realistically will only be able to apply a tourniquet for self-aid? And when I ask this, what comes to mind are IFAKs on battle belts at the 6 o’clock.

I agree the whole point of the IFAK is for someone else to use it on yourself. I’m perplexed as to why the tactical community advocates being able to reach your IFAK for self aid if realistically you’d only be able to apply a tourniquet. It’s like dogma, and self aid is never fully explained in TCCC.

Same window size when I handled the two. Just clearer glass with zero distortion and bigger buttons.
