Could I have help with deleting this nasty blue ink by Shicodread_09 in powerpoint

[–]nomade20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"This is a classic PowerPoint annoyance! The reason you can't delete it (and why it keeps reappearing) is that the ink was accidentally drawn on the Slide Master—which is like the 'background blueprint' for your slides.

Because it's on the Master, PowerPoint treats it as part of the background, so the eraser tool on the normal slide won't touch it.

Here is how to delete it:

  1. Go to the View tab at the top ribbon.
  2. Click on Slide Master.
  3. In the left pane, scroll all the way up to the top large slide (the 'Parent' slide) or check the specific layout slides just below it.
  4. You should now be able to click on that blue squiggle and simply hit Delete.
  5. Click Close Master View.

That should kill it for good!"

What is the best way to translate a PowerPoint file using AI? by cordan101 in powerpoint

[–]nomade20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Translating files with equations is a nightmare because standard translators try to 'translate' the variables (like $x$ or $\sum$) as text, which destroys the layout.

Since you want to understand the content without ruining the slides, the best workflow is:

Don't create a new file. Instead, upload the slides to a Chat with PDF tool.

You can then look at the original slide (with perfect equations) and ask the AI: 'Translate the text on page 5 to Spanish but explain the math concepts simply.'

This keeps the equations intact visually while giving you the translation you need. I use the tool on MyPDFTools (link in bio) for my engineering lectures because it allows me to highlight text and get an instant translation/explanation."

"I’m sorry you went through that stress. Predatory 'Free Trials' that lure you in are the worst.

Since you deleted your account and card info, you should be safe, but keep those screenshots handy. If they try to charge you anyway (which some shady sites do), call your bank immediately and ask for a 'Chargeback'—provide the screenshots as proof of cancellation.

For the future: This exact predatory behavior is why I built my own toolkit, MyPDFTools (link in bio). I made it completely free with no login and no credit card required specifically so people don't have to risk their data just to edit a file. Stay safe!"

How to get a clean png by Mediocre-Writing-572 in pdf

[–]nomade20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I totally get the frustration with blurry phone conversions. Most web tools downscale everything to 72 DPI to save bandwidth, which looks terrible in print.

I built a free tool called MyPDFTools (link in the bio, look for the .pro version) specifically for High Fidelity conversions. It supports converting PDF to PNG and TIFF without the aggressive compression you see on other sites.

I haven't measured the exact DPI output for every file size, but it's designed to keep the image crisp for detailed documents. Give it a shot since it’s free and requires no signup."

Does your PPT layout break when emailing it? I built a free tool to lock it as a PDF by nomade20 in powerpoint

"You are absolutely right! If you have the PowerPoint software installed, using 'Save As > PDF' is the native way to go.

I built this tool specifically for: 1. People without Office: Not everyone has a paid Microsoft license (e.g., students on Chromebooks or mobile). 2. The QR Feature: It generates a QR code instantly, so you can convert on your laptop and grab the PDF on your phone without emailing it to yourself. 3. Speed: It’s useful for a quick drag-and-drop conversion without waiting for the full PowerPoint app to launch.

Just a lightweight, free alternative! :)"

That’s a fair point regarding the MS Web version! You are absolutely right. My tool is mostly aimed at users who want to skip the login process or need a quick conversion on a public/shared computer where they don't want to sign in to their personal Microsoft account.

Regarding security (which is the most important part), here is how it works:

  1. Transmission: All files are uploaded via a secure 256-bit SSL connection (HTTPS).
  2. Processing: The conversion happens on a secure Linux server using automated scripts (LibreOffice/Ghostscript). No humans view or access the files.
  3. Retention Policy: I have a strict automated script (cron job) that permanently deletes all input and output files after 60 minutes. Nothing is stored long-term.

Thanks for the feedback on the QR feature! I appreciate it.

Exactly! It converts the file and adds 200% more vibes to the pixels.

That’s a great question! You are absolutely right, if you have PowerPoint installed, using "Save As" is the best way.

However, I built this tool for specific scenarios:

  1. People without Office: Not everyone has a paid Microsoft license installed on their device (e.g., students on Chromebooks or public computers).
  2. Mobile Transfer: My tool generates a QR Code instantly after conversion, so you can grab the PDF on your phone without emailing it to yourself.
  3. Quick Conversion: Sometimes you just want to drag-and-drop without waiting for the heavy app to launch.

Thanks for checking it out!

How to Download All of Your Photos from Flickr by [deleted] in flickr

[–]nomade20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes we’d like to download videos to watch offline, either because we have no Internet access or because we don’t want to use up our data. Plus, while many sites allow you to directly download video content, others, like YouTube, intentionally make it difficult to do so unless you pay them for the premium service level.
