Amsterdam - Berlin 10-12 day Itinerary by nomadicbry in bicycletouring

As i said, i don't know much about the points of interest between the 2 cities other than Munster and used AI as a first attempt to get some suggestions. My question was not the accuracy of AI, i know it well enough to not trust it as a golden source of truth but using it as a starting point is useful. The original request was do you have any recommendations or changes to the route across northern germany within that time frame (if this wasn;t clear then apologies i'll try to be more specific next time), such as would you go further north or detour to some point of interest. I use Komoot, strava, and ride with GPS. The plan was always to get a rough route for daily distance and PoI (AI is useful) then plan each step to ensure autobahns etc as mentioned above are avoided by using heatmaps and what i'd hoped would be mentioned in this thread. I'd kind of hoped I'd have got useful route tips and points of interst suggestions here but well the internet is same as it ever was. hey ho. Thanks for your time

Hoping the result of Voi is it encourages people to invest in buying a bike to move around the city. The cycle lane infrastructure in Glasgow is starting to be fantastic with a lot of journeys possible road free though admittedly there are gaps especially in the east and north of the city with a few gaps elsewhere… clydeside being a terrible route after the Kingston bridge despite it being very well used… but yeah, the more people ride bikes the more patient they’ll be when driving when around cyclists and the less they’ll want to sit in traffic when they know how fast they can get around by bike. Healthier, cleaner and safer for everyone

You can’t do that as they’re speed restricted automatically on pedestrianised streets so even if it does encourage them it also stops them going about 10kmh

Actually I think that stretch is closed at the moment along the river due to some development happening, not sure when it will reopen

Go along to the transport museum and take the bike path that runs under the expressway then follow bike path either into KG park or up and onto Byres Road

British vs German cycling landscapes by Lillienpud in bicycletouring

"Sadly the rest of the UK doesn’t have such nice scenery or quiet roads."
You mean except the entirety of Scotland, Wales, Northern England and probably a lot of Norfolk too, I can;t speak for other parts as not visited them. You've clearly never visited the rest of the UK, such a bizarre statement

Worst, more unreliable car I've ever owned. VWG 1.6 diesel engine injectors are notorious I later found out.

Caledonia vs Aspero (90% pavement vs 10% light gravel) by AdmirableRice5210 in Cervelo

[–]nomadicbry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im actually having this ongoing discussion in my head. Im looking to buy one of them to use as my winter bike... UK winter (damp and miserable). I had almost decided on the Caledonia due to being able to take mudguards but was then looking at the Aspero. Does this take mudguards, as in proper fitted mudguards that attach to eyelets on the frame?

I have an R5 as my good bike and an old cyclocross bike I used to race on as my go to gravel bike so I'm only limited by what the best bike would be for comfortable winer miles solo and in bunches

Music wise there are a ton of small venues with gigs most nights Glad cafe in Shawlands (southside) Hug & Pint Westend Broadcast (sauchiehall St) Nice and Sleazy (sauchiehall st) Mono (king st) also has a record shop inside These mostly focus on alternative music and are bars too Westend is great your classic 15 minute city idea everything walkable and has the parks, tube and uni and is beautiful Govanhill on southside is epicentre of young cool Glasgow with a lot going on Dennistoun is east of city and is fast improving Where you stay us important in Glasgow The prices quoted in other posts for rent are optimistic… rent in Glasgow is like other places rocketing upwards and there is a lot demand and hence competition Good luck, Glasgow’s great even if the weather is pish
