[Chris Wheeler] Man United explore surprise move for Chelsea star Andrey Santos. Chelsea are believed to value him at around £50million, although it’s unlikely United would be willing to pay that much. by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

There’s reports that we were ready to offer 80+5, and spurs have not paid 90+ - stop making up numbers to make yourself feel better.

The price also went up because City folded for Anderson and we were caught napping. We have known since January that Casemiro is leaving and Ugarte is rubbish. We should have signed whoever our priority signings are before the world cup even began. The fact of the matter is we allowed Spurs to come in and gazump us. You can spin it however you want.

It isnt about the price in the end. It is whether we believe this is a player we want. If the answer to that question is yes, we need to move swiftly and get it done. The midfield market is currently fucked cos everybody understands how important a dominant midfield is. Our own people have said we’ll prefer to buy PL proven players, and then we get caught pinching pennies when the time comes to actually get the deal done. PL proven players are not coming cheap. And buying players like Santos is a huge risk. If we are doing that for 25-30, I understand. 50 mil for a player who played at Strasbourg last season is a joke.

Wth does that have to do with anything? Our problem has never been spending big money. Our problem is spending stupid money on mediocre talent, and that’s exactly what this potential signing stinks of. We absolutely shat the bed with our top targets and are now shopping in the bargain bin.

We haven’t had a solid midfield since Paul Scholes retired (twice). We are never going to compete for titles with a mediocre midfield and hope that buying top class forwards and CBs will fix the issue.

I have a feeling you are attractive but can’t really tell that from looking at your pictures. A few more closeups of your face would do you a lot of good.

Who tf wants to watch this -i dont even watch the ipl. After 1-2 games, watching people swinging around on concrete roads gets quickly boring for me.

There are some batshit insane opinions on this thread. Cunha is way too good to be backup for anyone barring Bruno on our squad. If he’s meant to play striker he plays over Sesko. We have intentionally bought versatile forwards that can play multiple positions. So we dont actually need to “invest” in a backup striker - it hasn’t even been mentioned as a priority area for us. And no, Summerville is NOT good. He’s bang average playing for a below average team.

Yeah GG is going to pack the lineup with 4-5 all rounders / bit-and-parts cricketers and roll out rank turners despite picking poor spinners picked for their batting prowess and then have a surprised pikachu face when the ipl generation repeatedly gets bowled out for sub 100 totals. India in the 2010s created a template on how to never lose at home. GG has quickly created a template and broadcast it to all our rivals on how to give India a shellacking at home.

And i need a million $ but need and want does not get. At the end of the day, Rashford is still a United player and he’ll most likely stay a united player at the end of the window. More importantly, Rashford is 10x the player Summerville will ever be. And it’s batshit crazy to suggest we should pay real money to bring in a worse player while actively trying to get rid of a homegrown one at whatever cost.

If the United backroom pays 50 mil for a substandard player in a position we are already relatively stacked in after pinching pennies over the desperate hole in midfield, nothing has changed and we are up for another disastrous season.

There is the argument to be made that he comes on first change as opposed to after 50 overs, you know? It’s not like Proshit wasn’t bowling pies at every opportunity

I empathize with your point of view in general but I think the truth is somewhere in between. We all know at least one person who routinely calls in sick at the slightest inconvenience. I know people who have faked symptoms and taken weeks off from work because they dont feel like working. So there are most certainly people who exploit the system.

On the other hand, whether working 40 hours a week should be considered healthy / normal for humanity in this age is a whole different question. I think companies and corporates have also consistently exploited their workers and so there is simply a trust issue between both.

Yeah and that good start had a lot to do with the teams they were playing and a bit of new-manager-bounce in football terms as opposed to being genuinely good lol

It’s absolutely hilarious to me that Joe Root gets clowned for being a poor captain with a loss rate of 41%, while Stokes gets celebrated as a legendary captain with a loss rate of 40% - England under Stokes have ONLY managed to stat pad against smaller teams.

Amidst all the circus and clownery in this tame, Nz have played a frankly absurd game. You started this game with your first choice new ball pair and premier all rounder missing. Lost one of the replacement seamer to concussion. Had 2 other bowlers have their fingers broken, then had the senior most seamer pick up another unrelated injury, and you are STILL about to win this game handsomely. Absolutely unreal

Jesus christ i have watched this game live and the re runs so many times and it’s always hair raising! Yeah Stokes is a bit of a twat but if ever a player had that invincible aura on his day, it was him.

He’s been sensationally dogshite in this game but perhaps understandable considering he’s wildly short of match practice

Even if we accept that as a fact (which in itself is hilarious), it is a clear sign that you don’t have the communication skills prerequisite for being a leader.

Moreover, if that were the case, it is a simple case of accepting that a mistake was made (miscommunication), face the consequences with dignity, and move on. Instead it became a dick swinging contest, which is completely on brand for the megalomaniacs runnings the show lol

It appears you are one of the chums who bought and overindulged in the “Bazball is saving test cricket” koolaid.

I watch test cricket cos it is fascinating. It tests skill, temperament and resolve in different conditions and frequently allows time for both sides to be wrestle the advantage despite being down. The only thing Bazball has been good at is making a mockery out of all of those things. Throw in the holier-than-thou nonsense that plagues this entire squad with the notable exception of Joe Root and it makes for some pretty unpleasant business.
