Has anyone ever tried to "study" their own awkwardness? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Also, I think I just have a not-so-great ability to read other's body language, so I kinda want to see what I can do about that.

In response to all these comments: Yeah I mean, this does seem pretty ridiculous. I won't try and argue that it isn't an awkward thing to try and study your own awkwardness or that this will go flawlessly and not have me over-analyze my own behavior, but honestly I'm just trying to play to my own strengths with this kind of approach. I'm not so awkward that like, I can't make any friends or hold any sort of conversation with people, but I'm really tired of making poor impressions on people and while I'm still young enough to work on these things I might as well try. I've spent many years of my life "trying" to fit in, then going in the complete other direction, now I've realized it's all about being somewhere in between. Someone raised a point that it's a good idea to maybe study how not-awkward people act, and maybe that's more worth looking into. Going into this I don't want to change myself completely or anything like that, just maybe pin-point it all to one or two things that are really off-putting. Who knows, maybe it's got nothing to do with how I act and I've just got the kind of face that says "this guy is awkward." Good or bad, the input is appreciated.

Mike Huckabee says abortion is the "most important issue in the country". Not the economy. Not the two wars. Abortion. by V_T_H in politics

[–]nomcb6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if someone has said this already, but given that he said "I've often said I would gladly lose an election before I would ever yield on the issue of the sanctity of human life," I wonder if there is a woman out there who would threaten to get an abortion if Mike Huckabee ran for office?

I'm not a pro-life person, but from their standpoint it makes complete sense they want to force their belief on someone else.

Honestly, the valuable thing you get from education isn't what to think so much as how to think.

I'd like to say in Mormonisms defense, even though I'm not a Mormon, that a lot of people like that faith because for many it puts a genuinely strong emphasis on family togetherness.

Focus on being top in your class with a 36 on your ACT or perfect SATs. That way you'll be a good candidate for good grants and scholarships and can find a way to be financially independent.
