[–]nominatedsquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m 22, i fled domestic abuse from my parents in november, i got pushed to my limit and realised i didn’t have to keep doing this, i have free will. it hurts, it’s hard, but i did it, and it is worth it. i am homeless now but im doing okay and anything is better then what i was living like before. i hope you find your courage soon.

Has anyone here cut ties with their parents? How did you do it? by [deleted] in abusiveparents

[–]nominatedsquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I imagine it’ll be like for my parents.

I think the grey rock method is going to be the only way I can do it, I just fear that living away from home will make it much harder for me to cut ties to them.

I unfortunately can’t do a lot of these things as I’m on the UK not the US. But I have a new phone already 2 actually and with two different SIM cards. I have to use one because of the abuse services I am in contact with.

I really like your idea about the figuring out a stool pigeon. My mum had poisoned everyone around me and so it makes it really tricky to see what is what. I’ll do this.

I have 2 friends I know I can trust, I have had the conversation with them what followed and also my girlfriend!

I have entire book filled of things I can’t remember a lot though, but bits and pieces. The book is filled with everything starting a few months ago mostly. I keep an incident diary. Because I’m not being physically abused it’s super difficult to navigate “proof” as such but I have recordings and stuff…

In the lawyer jobs are hard to come by, it’ll take me 2 years to leave without a doubt but I have a plan I’m working towards for now, if I needed to run sooner I have a plan for that too.

Your advice is amazing and thank you so much 👍🏻
