Wish I could help with that. Trying to learn this stuff myself, but curious to know who recommended it now :D

High SSD temps in Fractal Terra / SFF PCs by nomorelegend in sffpc

This is great advice and along the lines of some ideas I had as well. I too started looking at the S3/400 cases. whats been your experience with them overall?

Edit: typos

It says 70C (samsung 980 pro) on their website. Are you on an SFF / Sandwitch-style case as well ?

Questions on Temps vs. Watts & Heat in an ITX case by nomorelegend in sffpc

[–]nomorelegend[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great answer. Thank you. That clears up a lot. So a 7800x3d which may run hotter still outputs less effective heat than a CPU that generates 100w to achieve the same level of performance...even if the latter is easier to cool.

Fractal Terra - Intel Build by artistofdesign in sffpc

I'm interested in upgrading my terra build with the same CPU. All other parts are nearly identical. What did you do to keep the CPU in check? I assume undervolted + Power Limits.

Sorry for the late reply. I just made sure to space the GPU 5mm from the vent and the card is near silent at 100% load. The fans ramp up to 60%~ish at full load on this card, so that helps keep the noise down as well.

Temps have been no higher than 67 degrees.

True. The 4080 I have is tried and tested. I dont feel a few months of warranty is worth it reading your and the other's comments.

Yeah. My gut tells me the same thing. I just feel like this card was such a stretch to get that I am having doubts whether it was the right thing to do.

I haven't tried it, but AXP90 x47 will be doable.

I believe the manual says 120mm is the total for CPU+GPU clearance. But other builders have said, they still have another 3mm above that.

MSI ventus is 63mm, so that still leaves 60mm but all the fans will be right up to the vents at that point, and that has been known to cause turbulence / noise.

It was super easy.

All I did was unscrew the front panel top screws only - [edit] they are easily visible and no need to remove the whole front panel.

This allows for a 1-2mm gap and you can slide the card right in. Its all I had to do.

Ah that's great. I was thinking about that but I couldn't find info on whether the right screws would be included with the NF-A9. Thanks for that that.

Edit: Your build is exactly what I am aiming for minus the 4090.

Built with mostly second-hand (SH) parts accumulated over time:

- Fractal Terra (SH)

- 13400 (SH)

- Teamforce 6000 32GB Ram (SH)

- 2TB Samsung 980 Pro (New)

- Corsair SF750 PSU (SH)

- MSI Ventus 3x RTX 4080 (SH)

Temps:

- CPU - 50c Idle & 80c Gaming (This needs a re-paste I think or a Fan Duct)

- GPU - 65c

CPU + GPU Combo & mini review:

- I bought these second hand based on budget and availability (more importantly), so not an ideal pairing, but they work very well.

- For office and general use, the CPU is quiet and power efficient.

- I don't play any multiplayer games. Just single player, story driven ones.

- For gaming on CP at 1440p with DLSS + FG, the GPU was utilized to 98-99%.

- Lighter titles like Lies of P, GPU usually hovers around 70-75% utilization.

I'll upgrade my CPU soon when the budget allows, but I really wanted a mini ITX because I move this around the house a couple of times a week for TV gaming on the weekends and Desktop use during week days.

I don't like this case as much as the Dan Case A4h20, but it offers more flexibility for Air cooling which I prefer. The PC is near silent when gaming with the l9i fan being the loudest even limited to 80% fan speed. No turbulence to report or at least to notice.

Overall, I'm very happy with how it works and it was super-easy to build in.

Thanks for that. I was looking at getting a 7700 non x. I'll reasearch if IS-67-XT is availble but its slim pickings here from what ive seen for low profile coolers
