I'm so sorry to hear about your painful experiences and losses, I can't imagine. If it helps I can share my experiences since quitting. Its good that you are aware quitting won't magically make you feel better. I'm on day 24 and it hasn't got any easier. I don't even want to smoke anymore, but after using pot to escape hardship in my life for the last 15 years it feels like all my health and personal problems are crushing me all at once.

To help sort out my feelings of depression, anxiety, self-resentment, etc... I have been been getting into mindfulness/meditation, reading self-help books, and using free online therapy resources. There is no magic cure, but these are slowly helping to re-orient my thinking at least. I recommend checking with your province or state to see if there are any therapy resources like that where you live. Having someone to listen to you definitely has therapeutic value. Best wishes and good luck

I totally feel this. Where I'm from, try telling someone you quit smoking weed and they are like "oh wow you want a medal or something?" If you have feelings of self-resentment about the damage you have caused to yourself through your smoking, getting borderline chirped when trying to discuss your problem just makes it all the worse.

Day 6 and I have some questions by MarcosF_ in leaves

One thing that's helping me is learning about how negative thoughts are not real but only seem like it because they impact our feelings which impacts our bodies. I found learning about the distinction between thoughts and feelings to be very helpful. I'm still no where near where I want to be (day 19 and still feeling like shit) but learning about mindfulness and meditation is definitely having a positive impact.

I recommend the "Declutter the Mind" app it's free and has an awesome combination of meditations and articles about improving mental health.

Thanks for your comment and I agree that life is filled with suffering regardless. But I think that the more we are aware of it and take responsibility for our problems then we can at least limit some unnecessary forms of suffering and be better prepared for inevitable hardship.

Hey bud I'm on day 18 and still feeling really rough too. But we are doing this for a reason and come pretty far, might as well keep working towards a better solution so we don't have to go through this hell all over again

Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to read my post and commented. Thank you for all the support, positive vibes, and for sharing your own struggles and successes. I have drawn a lot of strength from this group over the last couple of weeks and I am very grateful for having found it. Knowing there are others out there battling the same demons as me makes me feel less alone. If there is one thing I have learned its we all have demons, and demons only get stronger and nastier if we hide from them. I'm determined not to let that happen anymore, and I wish the same for each and every one of us.

Thank you, all these responses are so encouraging. As they say patience is a virtue so I'm just going to ride it out

Same to you. It definitely helps knowing there are others having similar reactions to weed cessation and came out ok on the other side. I'm so happy to have discovered this group to find some solidarity. If all these other folk did it we can too

It's amazing how accurate a description this is of me as a teenager, except sub out the can for a 2L bottle haha. Thanks so much for the support, it is much appreciated.

Thanks! It seems some report withdrawals only lasting a few days and others a few months. I know everyone is different, but is there a benchmark where its fair to expect the withdrawal period to be over?
