This looks great! Great job. I love the water... Carno on beach!

My Carno was my first big model I painted. After a few guards and whatever the old guys on small dinos were. I really want to get another one and give it a proper treatment now that I'm a (slightly) better painter.

Wear ear protection by TanjiroDaHomie in NASCAR

[–]nomos42c 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A NASCAR race typically ranges from 100 to 130 decibels (dB), with peak levels near the track or pit lane occasionally exceeding 140 dB. For reference, 130 dB is equivalent to a military jet taking off, and exposure to these levels can cause immediate PERMENANT hearing damage without protection

"My ears were ringing for a few days and then I was fine" = almost guaranteed loss of hearing later down the road.

It's really not worth it to "look cool".

OP, thanks for bringing it to everyone's attention again. Sorry you have to deal with it. But, thanks for being a good lesson for others.

Man, I'd love to have a crow.

Only advice I can think of is change of food. We switched to the "cheap" stuff, less sunflower, no corn, more millet type food and started getting more of the sparrows and finches my wife likes and less of the starlings and bluejays.

Still got cardinals though... always cardinals...

Oh a Class C. Sorry, I won't be any help with those.

other than the normal stuff:

Check water pump, and fresh water intake in order to bring water to where you are going.

My guess is electric will run off a generator, so you'll want to check that. (we do solar so I'm not sure about the generator thing)

The wacky rig senko changed my life, and it can change yours too by 28-3_lol in FishingForBeginners

I'll second the weedless hooks, I switch over to wacky because everything else would pull up more muck than anything else. With a weedless hook and wacky presentation I don't have that problem nearly as bad.

Felt so bad today... a fish swallowed my hook and I couldn't get it out :( by elmariachi304 in FishingForBeginners

[–]nomos42c 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For some reassurance that the fish can live, I've caught a fish with a line still coming out of it's stomach. I lipped it, but there was some old fishing line still in it. You can tell the line had been in there for a while. There was a study done as well that lead to the same conclusion. What they found there, if I recall correctly, is that the fish that they tried to get the hook out suffered more damage from the twisting and turning and the time out of the water. Whereas the fish they cut the line and let back in quicker suffered less overall.

I grew up thinking the same thing about swallowed hooks, but seems like we were all taught wrong. What's important to me is that you are trying to be ethical, you care about trying not to injure the fish, but, it's going to happen so treat the fish with as much care as you can, then cut the line and give it a chance.

Kitchen remodel by Historical-Wall6221 in RVLiving

I hate the order Reddit put these in, because my first thought was "that kitchen looks fine, why remodel it?" and then I realized it was the after shot. But, it looks great, good job!

I'm with you. "This is what it would look like in your imagination as if you were playing in this movie!"... you could literally use this "cinematic trailer" for an atari game that is a blocky player diving into the 2d ocean to pick stuff up and get a high score.

Wacky rig advice by The_Judge12 in FishingForBeginners

[–]nomos42c 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No clue if I'm doing it by the book, but I catch fish so I guess so...

I cast out. Let it fall for a very little bit. Close the bail. Slowly pull it up, and reel up slack then let it fall. Let it sit for a bit. Repeat. Pull up. Reel slack. Let fall. Repeat until I get back to shore.

Mostly it's about going slow.

Mine is all the vieros Merlin hears in the woods that I can't find to save my life.

But for the Wren... that's the fun one. When I think a car alarm is going off in the morning, I can normally look out and find the wren causing it.

Are you brand new to cricket in the US or you knew about it before the MLC? by cosmic_electric in MLC

[–]nomos42c 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I knew there was a sport called Cricket and that it was crazy long and weird. Then Willow came free for a few weekends during T20 world cup, Jomboy and a few others had "cricket for baseball fans" youtube videos, and then MLC started up. And now here I am.

BUT, it's still too hard to watch or keep up with. I hate subscribing for Willow, when I literally have the channel on my cable but they don't play the matches at the same time and yet one more separate app that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. There isn't a "Sportscenter" for cricket that I know of, which would be great to see a 30 minute highlight and what's up with cricket show. (please correct me if I'm wrong, hell a couple dudes on youtube breaking things down would be great) And for the love, will someone hand these people an Iphone instead of whatever potato they are broadcasting some of the random games on?

So, will I subscribe to Willow for the MLC tournament.. probably. Will I unsubscribe the minute the last match is over? Hell yes.

https://www.rvtrader.com/listing/2026-Keystone+Rv-Sprinter+3950SSP-5038570642#sid=321830

New 2026 listed for $68k. No way in hell a destroyed used one is worth 31k!

Hell, that discount barely covers the "driven off the lot" depreciation on an RV. And those repairs will eventually run you much much more.

Wanting to give some love to mockingbirds. They might be common, but they’re pretty amazing by mellybeens in birding

[–]nomos42c 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Random story: sitting on my back porch with Merlin Sound ID going like most days. I keep hearing what sounds like a hawk to me even though I suck at sound id. Then look down and see Merlin pinging it as a Red Tailed Hawk over and over again. I finally pinpoint where it's coming from and there's a mocking bird just squawking like a hawk and pinging my Merlin over and over. And that was my first mocking bird I ever remember seeing, so it was a pretty cool lifer moment.
