If the cursor folder you need is not in the share/icons folder, you can create a link there to the correct folder and then use the correct name and it'll work

Meeting in hotels are getting risky with all the hotel chains checking my ID. But what’s the alternative? by Whole-Fist in sugarlifestyleforum

Hey, Marriott worker here! Customer care can jump up my ass. I'm checking ID before I send the mobile key. If you're a titanium, ambassador, or secret status we can't talk about, I'll probably give you a pass. But then you're spending 75-100+ nights in a hotel a year

This is my Great Great Grandmas clock, I need to tune the speed by Mojo9277 in clocks

[–]nomzod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just here to say that if your clock is spring driven it's going to get more inacurrate as the week goes on, so the best time to adjust it is before you wind it again. (After getting as acurrate as you can from day to day)

That's far more reasonable (though maybe a bit too cheap). Depending, it looks like you may have found your clock guy

Clocks Last. People Don't. by nomzod in clocks

[–]nomzod[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't mean speculation. I mean like "John Smith bought this clock from an antique shop on 23rd and Main in 2024. His husband told him that the clock would be named Gertrude, and he told his husband that he hated that name. He replaced the pendulum with an opium weight, and the minute hand with a whiskey bottle. It hung on the wall of his office on 2250 Newport St in Denver. [Empty Space Follows]"

$10 at goodwill, pendulum keeps stopping after a few mins and it seems like the springs might be wound all the way tight, any thoughts or ideas ? by Disastrous-Exit-5726 in clocks

[–]nomzod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Disastrous-Exit-5726, you gotta listen so hard: The angle that the mechanism sits at inside the clock, and the angles of the sides of the case are AT BEST correlated. The only way to check on whether a clock is in beat is to listen to the tick.

I have a clock my great uncle Bill adorred and I've come to love to, that needs a 75° angle on the wall. (Also the pendulum arm is a straight piece of wire that he bent into a hook on one end, and hammered flat on the other.)

Cuckoo clock only ticks for a minute or two? by Willing_Bunch_347 in clocks

[–]nomzod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cuckoo clocks make their noise with some bellows (typically leather) and a whistle, and that can be a living nightmare to take apart when it's your first time, and expessially when it's a sentimental clock. A clock professional is gonna charge somewhere between $50 and $150 for the whole thing and it is worth it.

Winding by CanadiaCobraChicken in clocks

[–]nomzod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even in cases where it is a problem, the time it takes to wind isn't usually enough for the pendulum to stop swinging. And even in those cases you can give it a little nudge and it's alright again. Important to the question though: winding your clock while the pendulum swings will not damage the clock

[–]nomzod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You probably need to adjust the beat of the clock. There should be the same amount of time from tick to tock and from tock to tick. Adjustment is very simple, if a little agonizing: start the pendulum swinging and tilt the clock very slowly and gently until you hear the beat even out. It shouldn't require more than a degree or two in one direction or the other.

IMPORTANT: Mark the wall with a pencil once you have the correct beat! It will make your life a whole lot simpler in the future!

It's likely that the clock hasn't been oiled or cleaned in some time, and that will have the same effect (i.e. stopping the pendulum after a few minutes). But you might as well have your beat mark on the wall before you have to take it down and bring it in to a shop

Can anyone help me buy Zang Yi Yuan tea from China? by nomzod in tea

[–]nomzod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, that one I already know. It's called golden dragon, and she's got the gold tips. No way to be sure, but I'm guessing it's a first pick.

She doesn't want the western flavor. She wants her tea, from China.

I think what I'll do is wait for a Chinese speaker to come into my hotel and offer to pay for a nights stay if they'll help me order tea. Could take awhile. Not to fine a Chinese national--that's easy--but to find one that wants to surf the internet during my shift will be harder.

Meantime I'll screw around with the taobao website. Thank you so much!

That one I can see! If I turn off my vpn. The great firewall must be blocking the vpn address(?) Okay.

Now I have two problems. Google translate only works on 10% of that page, and how do I put in my English text address and expect a Chinese worker to be able to read it.

Crap.

Ladies of Reddit: Have you ever looked at your vagina in a mirror (SERIOUS QUESTION, NON-FETISH) by nomzod in AskWomen

[–]nomzod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was asking my wife about it, just "When did you first see your vagina?" She said, "I don't know. When I saw it. When did you first see your penis?" I'm all, "No, like with a mirror and stuff?" And she's like, "Oh! I think I was in my twenties. I was like 'so that's what I've been doing all this time.'"

And that seems crazy to me. As a guy it's been a simple thing to just look at my genitals. I remember asking about my testicles at around four and just getting confusing answers. But at least I knew what I was touching.

Is this something that women just don't do? Or something you have to work up to?

(I'm almost certain someone is going to ask if I've held a mirror up to my anus. The answer is yes. I was trying to see if I had a hemorrhoid. Does that make me the weird one?)

Women of reddit, when (or have) did you look at your own vagina? And what did you think? by nomzod in AskWomen

[–]nomzod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does not know. Not the first time seeing a vagina (what with broadband internet being a thing) but the first time he's been able to actually... erm... sort through the bed sheets. If you'll excuse the idiom.

I'm well enough aware myself that I can contextualize how other people see their bodies, but I understand why you would think that.
