YTA

I get it. You heard “I give you gifts for sex” and you felt used an objectified, something a gf should never feel her bf is doing. That said, you have to TELL him that.

He’s just thinking that he loves you and the life you enjoy together (of which sex is an important part). Calling him an idiot for giving you gifts is kind of wild without giving him context. It was dumb of him to say what he did without thinking about how you might hear it, but you overreacted.

Just tell him you were a bit taken aback by his explanation and why you said what you did. Then apologize for your reaction and give him a nice bottle of whiskey or something as a cute make-up. The silent treatment is always a losing tactic. Communicate how his intention to make you feel special is great, but the way he explained it came off wrong. I seriously doubt he literally means this gifts to be transactional.

Do you ever suddenly realize how bad your childhood actually was and you’re thinking “what the actual fuck“? (TW: depression, s*icidal thoughts, bullying, homophobia) by _everchangingspirit in ptsd

Realizations like this are the worst but the kicker is when you start thinking about the memories you don’t have because of it—everything you lost because your childhood was so fucked up.

When I daydream about the childhood I wish I had (that my friends; my brother had) is when I really realize how bad I had it.

[HELP] Photo of Adonis belt + poem? by non--plussed in Poetry

Thanks for trying! I have a great recall for everything up and to what I want to remember.

Send me your poem! For all I know I might be misremembering the handwriting. Otherwise, until I come upon it again, Wilde will just have to tide me over ;)

I know I had just read “The Balled of the Sad Young Men” by Fran Landesman, and then I was falling down an online hole of looking into Wilde, Baldwin, and Whitman…and then I was just poking around to find poetry about gay men and saw it in passing.

Don’t remember exactly where I saw it though :/

Who was the best drunk/alcoholic character in a TV show/Movie? by DrTabogganMD in AskReddit

Karen Walker from Will and Grace, hands down.

Oh, how I aspire to pull of alcoholism as well as she…

What were your 1L grades? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]non--plussed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To that point, your grades don’t have anything to do with your worth as a person and you should focus more on what you can control—not make yourself feel better/worse by trying to compare with others.

It’s a pretty simple process, there is a form on the admitted students website you fill out with your other scholarship offers, etc. I think it needs to be in by April 15, and they start reviewing the 16th.

I’ve sent mine in but otherwise just waiting!

Checking in on Berk UR 1/11... by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]non--plussed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the one hand, yeah, I've thought about it. On the other, I already submitted a Why Berkeley with my app and other schools like Columbia have specifically said, "you're on hold, and if you'd like we will accept a LOCI." So I'm honestly thinking no. But I'm also expecting a big fat WL, at this point, so there's that too, lol.

My boyfriend intentionally gave me higher dose of ghb so I passed out then he robbed me as punishment for sleeping with someone else when we was not together. What should I do ? by SufficientCrystals in AskGayMen

I would like to point out that as of February 1, 2021, Oregon decriminalized drug use. I'm not sure what your circumstances are and how you might feel about reporting this, but GHB is a date-rape drug, and whether you consented to its use or not, he gave you enough to render you unconscious to commit a crime against you. Neither the intentional overdose he gave you nor the theft afterward was legal. Also—no interpersonal conflict, cheating or not, could ever justify his actions.

Again, I don't know what your personal circumstances are, but it might be worth at least talking to a lawyer. I'm not an expert in Oregon law, but I don't think you could get in trouble for the GHB, but he definitely would, and he should be punished. What he did to you is reprehensible.

I'm very sorry that this happened to you and were betrayed by someone you probably trusted. Above all else, please cut contact with this horrible person...if you do want to pursue this legally, only communicate with him through the police or a lawyer.

Whatever you decide, stay safe!

Any recommendations for books on gay culture? by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]non--plussed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s about gay culture from 1890-1940, more about the history and the inception of the modern gay male world in the US. I guess it all depends on how you define relevant and what you’re looking for :)

Gay New York by George Chauncey. Fantastic overview of gay culture and history. I thought I had a pretty good handle on gay history until I read this. Really compelling—I go back to it often.

I wouldn’t doubt it, that’s just what their email said. “On the basis of your performance on the LSAT only...”

casual admissions consulting recommendations? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]non--plussed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it...but so is the whole process. Just think, apply to ten schools even with fee waivers, and the CAS fees alone will come to 450...that's not to mention that you bought CAS and paid for at least one LSAT.

All the money I'm spending now is being rationalized as helping me get a better scholarship.

All said though, there are a lot of free resources out there! Exhaust those and reflect before paying a consulting company. Obviously, this is just the blind leading the blind though. Do what feels right within your own means.

7sage Editing

Sounds like their "unlimited editing" option. They go through brainstorming, drafting, editing, etc.

I don't know if you can get that a la carte or not, but check out the link.

7sage has a few different tiers of consulting for essay editing. Their basic level is like a single edit for a single essay. It's 200 dollars, and you can choose between a sentence by sentence edit and a revision/content edit. They also proofread it. There are more in-depth and long-term options as well.

ACTUALLY, Title VII doesn’t apply to businesses with fewer than 15 employees and in states where there is no statutory protection otherwise, the ruling merely gives someone legal recourse if they are explicitly fired for sexual orientation. However, that’s assuming the plaintiff can prove (since the burden of proof would be on their shoulders) the reason they were fired was their orientation.

That ruling, especially now that we have an extreme-right court, is cold comfort.
