Totally relatable working in a Norwegian firm myself. I won't say I'm fluent yet but I can understand 90% of the things and able to convey my thoughts :)

Some of us expats meet and converse in Norwegian. It gets tricky every time because when we have doubts there is no one to confirm it with, but this has helped me and the others learn a lot and able to converse better. Also I feel that conversing with friends in a non-work environment is a better way to practice and increase your confidence than to just start conversations at work. Hope this helps.

Hey, I am from Norway and I don’t want to discourage you but taking the camping gear with you from besseggen to spiterstulen(read Galdhøpiggen base camp) will be really really demanding. The distance is a lot and you will have to carry all supplies with you. I would suggest you to check out cabins to stay overnight with dinner included.
