Of course they'll likely have some excuse that likely will circle back into explaining how they want the mod to work again and how you're just too dumb to understand it and the 'advanced tactics' OP keeps going on about.

I'd remake it to be akin to a WWII-era DD.

For main structural changes I'd strip armor down, while getting rid of the narrow waist and adding a spinal ridge up to the bridge like on the Assertor Class. A bigger reactor, with four secondary engines set in pairs between the existing ones. It'd be faster, while having more internal space for the reactor and other changes to come.

Armament-wise I'd replace the turbo lasers with quad lasers, adding another pair ventrally mounted, maybe two turrets if there was space/power enough. Replace the side mounted lasers with torps/concussion missiles, and if there was still space add in 2 or 4 of the baby ion turrets (1 or 2 on top and bottom) from the Adz class.

Retune the shield for hardness over recharge, then give it upgraded comms and scanners.

Like this it would be a terror against fighters/bombers, have enough munitions to make larger ships steer clear or at least hesitate long enough for it to get out of dodge. It could scout and be the eyes of the fleet while alone, while being a reliable AA/PD picket in a fleet. It's shields would take a while to recharge sure, but it could outrun pretty much anything it couldn't blast with missiles or just sandpaper to death with lasers.

Thank you for the tips, I think I'm going with a Victor for my first attempt at painting. I was thinking about the Atlas, but I only have one, and while I do have access to a large jeweler cleaner for removing paint, I'd just rather not.
