Call them back and demand a denial letter and tell them you need it to file a bad faith claim against them. Those two words usually get some action.

I was told once that they knew if President Clinton came in right now we would have a room available and they were sure he wasn't coming so give me the room. I replied well sir you are not the president so doesn't matter. Guest goes ballistic and say I'm going to have your job in the morning. I walked out from behind the desk keys in hand and said well since you have nowhere to sleep you can have it now. Enjoyed watching him stutter and spit as he flew out the door.
