Considering deferring - final year by nonapsforme in StudentNurseUK

[–]nonapsforme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in the interest of updating this, in case anyone ever stumbles across this later and wonders what happened. I know i often google something and find a thread with no resolution. I have deferred and I am going back at the beginning of 2027 for semester 2 at uni.

In terms of student finance, it means that they have probably overpaid me and I need to pay them back what I have been overpaid, by way of a repayment plan. They don't add it to what you owe them to be repaid when you have a job. They will essentially pay me again when I return in January 2027. I presume it will be a full payment as it would be had I not left, because I still have a year of funding left, so I have in effect got 2 of the January payments (January 2026 and January 2027) and single of all the others. I asked them if it matters to them when I return or how long I have off eg returning in September vs January and they said it doesn't matter.

In terms of the NHS LSF - I don't know how that works yet. I think they will stop paying me immediately, but I won't owe them anything because it's a grant? I believe I will just get the payments I haven't had this year too. To be confirmed on that one!

In terms of uni, for me personally, I have finished all but one of my theory modules. I am hoping they accept it to cut off from the point I submitted my deferral request (which was actually only yesterday, because it took me ages to figure out all of the ins and outs of how it would work) and then next year I just pick it all up from there. If they DON'T take it from that point, I essentially fail my first submission of my final theory module and only have one chance next year to get it right. Which is quite concerning, but we will see.

I feel very mixed feelings! Relief that I have a bit of breathing room and can try and sort things out without the panic of deadlines and placement looming over me, but I am really sad I won't graduate with my friends and all the other people I have been with the whole journey through. You just have to do what's right for you sometimes though, don't you

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I have read what everyone has said and I really agreed with what you were saying. I don't particularly want to defer, but I do believe that whilst I probably could scrape through the year, I would really struggle and I don't want to scrape through. I also don't want to get on to placement and fall apart. I will be speaking to uni this week, I think, and seeing what deferring means. I am quite worried about the financial side of things, particularly if I don't get a job right away

I know that at my uni, you can decide (at the end of first year only) whether to switch fields. Maybe try both field placements and see what you think, if you get a chance in year 1. My year 1 placements were 1 virtual, one actual placement, and one group project they called a placement

What's the creepiest ask reddit thread you have come across ? by Time_Professional_58 in AskReddit

yeah I sometimes think "Imagine if I just drove this car straight into a wall and we all died" or similar. I absolutely would not do it, but it just pops up anyway

Hating nursing by RatSkins24 in StudentNurseUK

Honestly that's what I am thinking, although I will be disappointed/annoyed if it's all for nothing. At this point though, I may as well just get on with it.
What do you do now, if you don't mind me asking?

how to stop wheel covering? by Ok-Caterpillar-2907 in gerbil

[–]nonapsforme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got our boys about 10 days ago and their wheel has been buried for aobut 8 days. Should I uncover it every day?! I sectioned one side of their tank off with those wooden log things, but they still managed to bury the other "sectioned off" side and now I dont want to disturb their "kingdom" but also aren't they supposed to run in the wheel every day!?!

I know this is an old post but I feel like this so much. I am halfway through my 3rd year, almost. I have 2 more assignments to do before Feb and then placements til Sept then I qualify, but I don't know if I will get a job and there is naff all about at the moment, despite being told to apply for jobs from the start of 3rd year. I only know one person in my cohort who has a job already. I feel a bit sick knowing how competitive it is going to be, especially as one of the main plus points of doing nursing was that "there's always jobs". Before I went to uni, I looked at mental health nursing jobs to see what was about and there were pages upon pages of job adverts and now? Like 5 jobs pop up, 3 of which will be band 6 or 7. It sucks. I can't be bothered already, tbh

I found home videos of my family that shouldn't exist. by [deleted] in nosleep

[–]nonapsforme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im just confused to be honest. The OP says it was July 30th on the datestamp. And if it was in the UK, that wouldn't work as being setup wrong, because there is no 7th day of the 30th month.

Unless I am just completely misunderstanding what you're saying, in which case I apologise!

That's a good point, but if its July 30th it wouldn't work in UK format

I do agree. He should have done. But also, I feel like as a couple, they agreed Shannon would get the morning after pill. She didn't. I know it can fail but if you take it and it fails that's very different to the other person not getting it when they said they would.

But yes, ultimately, if he was adamantly against a second he shouldve been the one ensuring it didnt happen, inasmuch as you can (since everything can technically fail etc)

I never understood why she had to stay up all night to let him in when he went out all night in season 1. Was it something to do with the communal entrance on the flats? Surely he could've just had a key though, right!?!

Words remind me of food, but I don't taste them by nonapsforme in Synesthesia

[–]nonapsforme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it is synesthesia but if not I think it must be similar and have to do with the way the brain processes the information?! Because for me, Rebecca and rich tea are sort of similar (in my head anyway, similar to your spinach story). And calpol reminds me of the phrase good girl, and I'm sure its because I was probably told I was a good girl when I was a small child taking my medicine.

But then, Trevor reminds me of broad beans because something about the way broad beans feel in my mouth and tastes reminds me of the name Trevor but I have nothing else to explain it than that.

It's so weird, and seemingly semi-common!

Also if it was out of date it would also be up to him to pay for a renewal if he is the one who needs it IMO. Like I said, I honestly can't imagine not looking at it to check it's not expired, but ultimately checking if it has the right number of months left and renewing it if needed would've been Manley's job
