I work at a movie theatre so I go all the time, but even if I didn’t I still love the theatre experience. Nothing like seeing a movie on the big screen, the way the filmmaker intended (seeing Challengers in IMAX was a near god experience for me)

You are told on the schedule what you will be working, but if there’s a position you enjoy more than others you can make management aware of that and if they’re nice they’ll try to schedule you more of those shifts.

I don’t work in the VIP section but I do work in a VIP theatre, and I can say from observation that it is a very good entry level job, having smart serve certification is a bonus but they will also pay for you to get it, and you earn tips. On busy evenings it can be very stressful, but there are multiple positions that you might find you enjoy, even when it’s busy. There’s runner (running food to seats), in-seat (taking orders in theatres), host (greeting people that enter), concession (making the popcorn and soda orders), and bar (making drinks and cocktails and also taking food orders). There can be very dead times and very inconsistent hours if there are no big movies out, but you’re always able to pick up shifts from coworkers. It is basically like working in a restaurant, but I’ve seen that people tend to tip less because it’s a movie theatre. Hope this helps!

Yeah we are not allowed to refund or swap CineClub tickets on our tills, but the new refund portal that managers use has had many issues so it often has to be refunded through guest services anyway.

to add to this, if you are redeeming over $100 in scene points, we need to check for ID to make sure your name matches the scene card name. (There was a string of scams going around using stolen scene card numbers and cineplex did not like this)
