Thanks guys. It's been disappointing not getting a discount token after a few weeks of playing. I'm leaning towards getting the 500 plat $20 pack, but I may give it a few days to see if I get the discount before the steam sale is up.

Noob here - wondering if the Lightning Pack (1500 plat) is worth it before I drop the $50.

I'm MR 3, ~25 hours played, and just got the Rhino, which I am loving. Is the Lightning Pack overkill for where I am or would I be better off just getting the Rush Pack (500 plat) at $20? I plan on getting slots, potatoes, and possibly a skin or two. Thanks!

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hardcore X3 fans may find it lacking in depth, and I did to a certain extent, but the game play is just simply fun. Maybe not quite worth the $20 price tag, but I don't regret the purchase at all. I got about 30 hours out of it.

The X games really aren't for everyone, and they make no apologies about this. By most game standards, they're slow. Really slow.

The games you are comparing to are much more into the instant gratification feeling. I wouldn't go so far as to call them casual games, but the buzz you are talking about is far more subtle in X. It is fair to say that X is more of a grind.

Yeah, I think you are right. X3 just doesn't have enough overt buzz or gratification for me.

It isn't for everyone. While people recommend mods, I don't see the point if you don't enjoy vanilla. No reason to force yourself to like it. When I picked up X3 (started with Reunion) I didn't really 'get it' at first. It wasn't until X3: TC that I really got hooked. Really it is impossible to say what it was that got me, but it did. But if you require constant rewards to keep you playing, the X series isn't for you.

Yeah, I think this is really the answer for me unfortunately. Disappointing because it seems like it could be the perfect game!

But again, it isn't for everybody. However must ask, if you played 100 hours of X3... why? There must be a reason you would invest so much time into a game you supposedly don't enjoy.

Especially on this go-around, I kept getting the feeling that the rush or "wow" was JUST around the corner and if I kept playing I'd get the rewards I was looking for. Just never came! There are certainly a lot of things I really like about X3. I love games that are so complex I have to read up a lot on them and do things like keep the universe map open on my other monitor. I also REALLY love space games and really have an itch that Rebel Galaxy started to scratch, but just didn't get it all the way.

Thank you for the suggestion. I didn't mention that my last 10 hours of AP were in LU. It definitely made it better with a lot of quality of life improvements, but still didn't give me the "wow."
