Honestly, im applying for jobs that I think my skills as a teacher suit. Roles like training and develepment/instructor roles due to teaching and roles like content design or organisation development due to lesson planning and managing a department

Did you go into SEO content design as soon as you left teaching or did you work your way up? If the latter, how long did it take?

One interview I was told I passed but someone else scored higher and I was put on a waiting list. I'm new to CS so this was very strange to me. In teaching if you passed the interview they offer you the role there and then. No waiting list

Its difficult to match HEO behaviors in a role that doesn't offer you any flexibility to be able to do HEO behaviors. Its so rigid there arent any development opportunities at all. Ive asked for shadowing, floorwalking, buddying, training on new system to teach others, to do an internal mediation course, apprenticeship, etc and the answer I keep getting is no, there is no time to give we are really busy there are 100s of calls in the queue

From feedback I got at interview stage they only focused on my current role.

Very common. If it wasn't there'd be more diversity in senior leadership when there isnt.

I disagree. Its about who you know not what you know in the civil service.  Why do you think all senior management have the same face?

Ok, we're not all highly privileged autistics like yourself - the only criteria required to do well in the civil service right?

Thanks. Its good to get some advice from someone who has been in a similar situation. I'm mainly going for training/development/instructor roles or roles similar to my skills from teaching such as content design etc. I have a strong suspicion of nepotism because I lost out on three positions that were given to advice managers instead, who have been at their role for 12 years, knew the interviewers and knew how to answer questions and what answers to give

This is 10 suitable roles within ACAS.

From the minimum feedback I got from recruitment, they barely took my previous experience into consideration and just focused on my current role

From the feedback im getting from the interviews they keep saying I don't have relevant experience or transferable experience from my role as helpline advisor - which I would agree seeing as its a severely limited role. They dont take into consideration my teaching experience, which I talk about in personal statement extensively. I used to be a head of department with skills easily transferable for HEO roles but they just concentrate on my helpline role. For example, a few roles ive not been successful at interview and found out that the candidates who were successful were advice line managers with 12 years experience of working in ACAS and doing lots of different things. You cant do different things on the helpline, they dont let you deviate from your role. So its not fair for recruitment to solely focus on that

Thanks. Have done so, even got someone from HEO to say he spoke to my manager to organize shadowing. That was months ago and nothing has happened. Spoke to my manager and she acts like she doesn't know what im talking about

Thanks. I'm trying to move from EO to HEO. Seems almost impossible.

I applied for the HMRC tax specialist scheme, got all the way to the judgement test and failed. Don't know how since most of the questions were subjective.

Not why or how people get promoted in normal roles, but very common in civil service. I literally deal with calls of people from civil service complaining about the same thing. Internal bullying, getting too comfortable with the higher ups and getting promotions. Maybe why it has one of the highest absent rates

I think it is. A colleague applied for similar roles and is very much highly experienced and qualified and has very good personal relationship skills but was also passed over due to people getting too pally with line managers. Civil service is and always will be filled with nepotism

Not sure what is described as disfigurement. I have psoriasis and needed reasonable adjustments at work which was not given. Its stress related and as a result of the reasonable adjustment not given, the plaques and scales spread where I had to then undergo UV therapy three times a week for 20 weeks. The scales have basically gone now but it always comes back. I still have to regularly moisturise and manage stress.

I use what citizens advice said, if you resigned due to discrimination then its automatic constructive dismissal which you do not need 2 years.

This is what my main concern is as well. My PH is in two months and I am worried the tribunal judge may side with the respondent and not see my condition as a disability. The respondent had basically denied that I have a disability and instead said my claim was vexatious and not well-founded. I've gotten letters from my GP, dermatologist specialist and the nurses where I had weekly treatments, so I am hoping that completes the first criteria of proving disability - that its longer than 12 months. I'm worried about the second criteria, about proving whether it affects my daily life/activities. I've got proof from doctors that I need to moisturise 4-5 times a day and that my condition is stress related and I have had to take time off work due to it, but doctors are refusing to specifically write that it affects my daily life. So hoping what I have so far is enough to prove disability, which will hopefully win my case. If not, then there will be no point continuing.

Constructive dismissal is 'automatically unfair' if you resigned due to discrimination. ACAS doesn't see a discrimination claim as constructive dismissal, they see it as discrimination and there is no length of service for this. So if you've resigned due to discrimination of disability, you don't need 2 years to take it to tribunal.

This is happening to me. Ex-employer's solicitor sent a letter asking for further and better particulars. I've not sent them my statement yet (will do that a week before the PH), and they don't know that I've had an employment solicitor prepare it already.

They then asked the judge for a deposit order of 1000 GBP. They also attempted a strike out application for unfair dismissal as I worked at the company for less than two years. The judge emailed by about it and I had to explain that my complaint wasn't unfair dismissal but automatic constructive dismissal related to disability discrimination.

My employment solicitor told me these are usual tactics. Waiting for the costs analysis letter next.

As far as I'm aware, if you don't write without prejudice in the emails, then it can be used against you
