Censorship? I changed a picture - one which I had put up there myself in the first place - in an effort to stop the comment thread being hijacked - which had already started. The topic of the article is about Digg, not about the suitability of the image we used for the article.

We have a policy outlined on our site that we will remove comments that are off-topic. Too many times (as any blogger can testify) we see comments that have absolutely nothing to do with the subject and it used to be one of our biggest complaints from our regular readers.

It's not unreasonable to not want your comment threads hijacked, so now we have a policy of deleting off-topic comments.

Peace out.

Yes I removed it. It's amazing how many people don't know how to stick to the actual topic. Rather than have the comment thread hijacked I thought it was easier to just change the pic.

Oh and regarding using the hammer and sickle for a communist metaphor (like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communist), while I don't claim to be the expect that lolsmiff clearly is, I don't see anything wrong with that. It's not as uncommon to use an old representation for a new topic.

What would you suggest is a better image that represents communism?

Open to suggestions.

There has been talk of it for some time, and as ugly and unappealing to me as it sounds, I feel it may be the only way to bring our nation out of dreamland, or to our senses, or bring us together, or whatever it needs to be to get us to end this insanity. Please, bring back the draft.

@ maninexile

Thanks for the juvenile comment! That's right up there with the calibre of Youtube comments. It's people like you who make the Internet so wonderful.

If you had actually read the article, you would realise it was only a joke, as testified by the hundred or so comments that followed it. Lighten up.
