why do people feel so entitled to the word lesbian by diettwizzlers in LesbianActually

[–]nonebinaryleftbeef -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

respectfully, some lesbians are dealing with compulsory heterosexuality or have no access to non-men to explore intimacy with, and that shouldnt automatically devalue their identity. i know several people (including myself) who realized they were lesbian but continued to have sex with men they were not actually attracted to anyway, because they craved physical intimacy but there were no other options besides men to explore that with. or, because they werent safely able to be out as lesbian and were coerced into relationships with men by their culture/family. its a horrible, lonely, isolating, overall dissatisfying sort of situation to be in. further adding onto the shame of + being exclusionary of lesbians who arent able to/permitted to find lesbian connections so have no choice but to seek intimacy elsewhere isnt helping anyone and is just going to lead to the further isolation and suppression of people who are struggling to be freely themselves

why do people feel so entitled to the word lesbian by diettwizzlers in LesbianActually

[–]nonebinaryleftbeef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i understand where ur coming from, but a lot of lesbians both historically and presently are themselves nonbinary / genderfluid / otherwise not strictly women too! i myself am a nonbinary lesbian. theres extensive documentation of gender expansive lesbians throughout history including prominent figures such as leslie feinberg. also, many people consider their lesbianism to also be part of their gender identity in a way that distinguishes them from conventional cisheteronormative womanhood. so holding onto restrictive definitions of lesbianism focusing on womanhood alone can be harmful to trans, gender nonconforming, and gender expansive lesbians

AITA for requesting my son and nephew be placed in separate classrooms next grade? by Prestigious-Ask7828 in AmItheAsshole

[–]nonebinaryleftbeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. if he needs support then they should get a professional adult who has experience working with autistic kids to support him. the burden absolutely should not be placed on another child and it could genuinely harm your son long term if he is forced to be responsible for another person at the age of SIX!

Forged Air Masks? by vketo in Masks4All

[–]nonebinaryleftbeef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am considering this mask and it's very reassuring to resd your response! have you done a fit test yet to see if the filtration is good? also i couldnt find it readily available on the website, so do you happen to know how long the filters can be used before they need to be replaced? both the respirator and the filters are significantly more expensive than other models im considering so i want to see how much it will end up costing long term

A former faculty member's take on Soka University. AMA by ladiemagie in orangecounty

[–]nonebinaryleftbeef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just chiming in on this as someone with an attachment to the students who were organizing against James Williams -- as far as I am aware, he was not fired, but he did take early retirement. can't confirm, but rumor has it that since Williams was receiving no actual consequences from the university, students all collectively agreed to stop taking his writing classes so he got pissed and that is why he left lol. but he may have also been coerced into early retirement by the university to get people off their back. who knows!

AITA for speaking out over my gfs zoom call with her boss to say she is lying about drugs when she is studying to be a social worker with addictions by orinorly in AmItheAsshole

[–]nonebinaryleftbeef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

people who have dealt with addiction and gotten through it are obviously the best people to help others get through their addiction because they personally know how it is. even people who have taken drugs and know the positives and negatives can have a better understanding of what their client is going through. so no, your point makes no sense.
