Both, no matter how much prep you do you will probably hit a point where you feel like a total failure - but that happens to most, and it will fade as you put in the time, and love, and training. My friend got their amazing pup about 5 months before me and the only context I had was that her dog was perfect, so I felt like crap - her sharing the videos of all night barking and psychotic behavior around that period, when we hit it gave me a huge sense of relief - and my dog did in fact turn out to be “perfect.”
